Job Summary

The SCOR Global P&C (“SGP&C”) Legal Counsel is responsible for delivering effective and efficient technical support on all legal and compliance matters in respect of SGP&C operations within the EMEA Hub and/or any other assigned geographic areas and/or entities, understanding and responding to (as is both appropriate and permissible) the commercial and business related constraints and pressures on SGP&C. He/she is a member of the EMEA Hub Legal Team, providing legal guidance and support in particular:

· to SGP&C and all of its operations;
· with regards to commercial transactions and operations in which SGP&C are involved.

The SGP&C Legal Counsel is also a member of the SGP&C Legal Team operating globally and led by the SGP&C Chief Legal Counsel

Key duties and responsibilities

Legal Matters

· Provide legal guidance and support in any assigned SGP&C transactional, underwriting and (as required) claims related matters including: policy wording queries, sanctions and embargoes queries, licencing queries and applications, drafting and negotiating agreements (including services agreements, framework agreements and commercial agreements such as Broker Services Agreements).
· Support the SGP&C business operations, including identifying and addressing/mitigating legal risks in the business and support the business by appropriately addressing any legal risk and developing processes to respond to them for the commercial and legal progression of the relevant business.
· Provide support to the EMEA Hub in relation to the drafting and negotiation of a wide spectrum of legal and commercial contracts, whilst also providing support in reviewing financial agreements.
· Providing day to day legal advice, guidance and support to the business in relation to any other legal, commercial, claims and financial matters of the EMEA Hub and its assigned entities.
· Participating in Group, Division and Hub Projects including developing strategy, drafting applicable documents, liaising with both the internal client and external advisors and project managing process.
· Independently research and investigate legal issues, draft, prepare, file organise and distribute legal documents.

Compliance

· Advise on legal and regulatory compliance-related matters and support the Group Compliance Officer, the SGP&C Compliance Key-Function Holder and the EMEA Hub General Counsel with the implementation of Group, Divisional & local approved governance and legal compliance policies and to provide training on such policies as required.
· Provide advice, assessment, guidance and support on legal and regulatory compliance and ethical conduct of the SGP&C business activities of the EMEA Hub including (re)insurance regulatory issues, sanctions and embargoes, anti-money laundering & terrorism financing, anti-bribery, anti-fraud, conflicts of interest, data protection and privacy, anti-trust and competition, reputational risks and ethics.
· Provide business compliance training, referrals and tools with respect to the SGP&C activities.

Corporate

· Support the Group Corporate Legal Team with ad hoc legal matters as required and to the extent they relate to SGP&C.
· Provide support and advice with respect to the EMEA Hub assigned legal entities.
· Support the SGP&C Chief Legal Counsel’s delivery of required legal service and advice into the SGP&C business.

Reporting

· The SGP&C Legal Counsel reports directly to the EMEA Hub General Counsel.
· The SGP&C Legal Counsel also has a functional reporting line directly to the SGP&C Chief Legal Counsel.

Required experience & competencies

Experience:

· 2 year + PQE either in a legal practice and/or commercial environment, with a material exposure to the (re)insurance business.

Personal Competencies:

· Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
· An ability to apply technical legal issues in a commercial environment and to appropriately calibrate technical business risks in the context of business/commercial requirements and goals.

Digital Competencies:

· Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.

Required Education

Degree (ideally law), with a strong academic record.

A formal legal qualification – ideally in France (but a qualification in another jurisdiction is acceptable).
