Job description

As a key member of the In-force Management & Analytics team, the role will be responsible for developing and co-ordinating prospective and retrospective management actions to assist the steering of the Underwriting portfolio to optimal performance. 

The role will require project management capabilities on regular strategic initiatives to support P&C CEO and Management Team. These responsibilities require an in-depth understanding of the underwriting process alongside detailed knowledge of the interconnected departments. The ability to manage internal and external stakeholders well will be fundamental to the success of the role, as will a ‘results-orientated’ approach. 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience ; 

·  Significant work experience on similar fields in an international environment
·  Ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplined teams of experts
·  Ideally extensive experience in portfolio optimisation / management
·  Proven analytical and technical underwriting skills, reinsurance and insurance
·  Ability to contribute to strategic initiatives elaboration and implementation
·  Analytical, organizational and reporting skills
·  Advanced Excel, Word and Powerpoint
·  Knowledge of SQL and python would be beneficial

Required Education

·  A minimum of a college degree in Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent discipline. Business degree in addition would be a plus.

Some of the key areas of responsibility are as follows ; 

·  As part of the In-Force Portfolio Management (IPM) team the role will participate in the steering of Reinsurance and Specialty Insurance practices towards underwriting performance, business development and operational efficiency to the benefit of P&C.
·  Close engagement with the business community is a primary focus of the role to provide informed, independent assessments at a portfolio level which could provide additional perspective and considerations from a strategic viewpoint.
·  Reviews can be either standard (and follow a common structure) or be ad hoc, focussing on a specific area of business.  Each review is unique and both types of review will involve detailed consideration of the areas to analyse and the best approaches to present and communicate the results.
·  The role will require proactive interaction with all stakeholders to ensure key points are addressed and ultimately driven with automation and efficiency. Specific project work can be
·  undertaken but requires careful scoping and team management to ensure that objectives are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.
·  SCOR has developed many tools and analytics capabilities throughout the Group.  This role will not duplicate this work, but will require understanding of each of them to be able to use them efficiently within every task the In-Force Portfolio Management team completes.  In addition, it is expected that the role would generate additional analysis and tools to assist in the IPM tasks where current tools do not exist.
·  Data is a fundamental resource of the IPM team and as such the role will liaise closely with the various Data Domain owners to ensure IPM are using the most accurate and up-to-date datasets.  The role will also be responsible for adding information into SCOR’s data platform to assist other departments, including but not limited to:
·  Market data (claims, rating environments, legislative changes etc)
·  Amendments to SCOR system data, where needed for tasks
·  As part of the IPM team, the role will seek to assist in a data-driven and quantitative framework for steering SCOR’s portfolio prospectively.  This may include creation of new KPIs, approaches on risk knowledge and portfolio analysis and will include active communication to all relevant stakeholders.

For each review, the role will require creation a team of relevant experts throughout the Group to allow synergies and avoid any duplication of work. Each review will consider internal controls and relevant guidance in place alongside any opportunities for automation, data sharing and standardisation.
