Job description

Within SCOR Global P&C, SCOR Specialty Insurance (single risk) is the central unit dedicated to insuring the business risks faced by large corporate companies. It has been serving its customers for 50 years and has maintained a continuous presence in the market by upholding a strong technical culture supported by SCOR’s best-in-class financial strength rating.

Business activity is structured around four regions (LATAM, US, EMEA & Canada, APAC) through seven global lines of business (Property, Construction, Energy, Casualty/Financial Lines & Executive Risks, Marine/Transport, Political/Credit and Political Violence, Space). Clients in each region are served by specialized underwriters who rely on SCOR's technical expertise and client knowledge. Power segment falls within Property Global Line of Business.

In collaboration with the Property Global Head

·  Define risk appetite for the Power segment and provide roadmap, memo and guidelines to underwriters for them to manage that risk appetite in a pro-active way.
·  Proactively steer the Power business: monitor the performance (P&L and balance sheet, including reserves) of the book, and lead in-depth portfolio optimization reviews.
·  Provide technical expertise for the segment and share it with underwriters. Responsible of the “qualifying” technical training for newcomers and “maintenance” technical training of Power capacity delegated Underwriters.
·  Participate to the set-up of the underwriting plan for Power Business and to strategic reviews/.
·  Strengthen commercial relationships and direct participation to underwriting in certain cases.

In addition, and in complement to these missions, the Global Segment Leader is fully integrated in the EMEAC Power Team and fulfils the responsibilities and duties of a Team Leader for London Power Team/Senior Power Underwriter in full collaboration with the EMEAC Property & Power Manager.

·  Active engagement and contribution to the Global Property Power team is essential.
·  An enquiring mindset with the ability to work independently but also to participate and/or lead group projects.
·  Self-disciplined, principled and decisive decision making.Organised and able to prioritise under pressure.
·  Ability to evaluate, condense and summarise key information.
·  Excellent communication and presentation skills and confident to represent SBS at conferences, meetings or professional associations.
·  Able to travel regularly.

Experience and educational skills required
•   Established dedicated Power underwriter with extensive underwriting experience in the international market.
•   Proven underwriting skills for diverse and large power companies (wordings, quotations).
•   Proven International exposures.
•   Risk management knowledge.
•   Reinsurance and insurance knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities of the Power GSL

Under the authority of both Global Head of Property & Power you will be charged with:

·  Global Power Underwriting Policy definition, evolution, implementation and monitoring throughout all 4 regions.
·  Full monitoring of the global portfolio and proactive steering on both tactical and strategic standpoint.
·  Supporting the Power Underwriter community and bring assistance whenever needed
·  Being the referral point for the segment and liaise with Underwriting Management whenever requested.
·  Being the technical lead for the segment and in charge of training and technical development of Underwriters for the segment.
·  Supporting production of marketing material and informed business intelligence documentation for the segment and help in strengthening commercial relationship through this mean.
·  Providing relevant reporting to management and participating to broader group initiatives and projects.
