Position Overview
The candidate will join the Manufacturing Engineering team at Pirelli headquarter. He/She will be involved as Automatic Handling Project Engineer in managing projects of automatic handling systems to be installed in Pirelli factories in the world. The simulation and the design of such systems is carried out in strong cooperation with OEM and partners. Depending on the category and complexity of projects, he/she may act as project member or project leader.

Core Responsibilities

•    Defines the machinery (mechanical, electrical and software) in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
•    Draws up the specifications for the automatic handling systems for the Pirelli factories worldwide.
•    Defines the project timeline and manages accordingly the design, procurement, commissioning, testing and validation of the equipment machinery supplied by Original Equipment Manufacturers. He/She may coordinate also resources in the factories with the local project team support.
•    For assembled production lines, coordinating external suppliers He/She carries out the complete water/pneumatic/electrical engineering (e.g. cable trays layout, cables dimensioning and distribution) according to the applicable standards and directives.
•    Defines the better strategy/logic for products internal handling considering constraints in the existing factories. 
•    Contributes to the definition and application of proven standard technological solutions for specific areas.
•    Contributes to the scouting and to the application of emerging technologies on new machinery for intralogistics processes.
•    Verifies, approves and archives machinery documentation in compliance with internal procedures and Group quality standards.
•    Applies the best practices in quality and efficiency for designing, procurement and manufacturing of automatic handling machinery.
•    Provides technical support during installation, commissioning, start-up and following lifecycle phases in all the Pirelli factories worldwide.

Requirements

Hard skills
•    Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automation Engineering
•    Medium knowledge of project management
•    Medium knowledge in CAD design SW
•    Knowledge of industrial mechanical and electrical devices (gearboxes,  sensors, etc)
•    Knowledge in industrial P&ID, layout & mechanical schematics drawings
•    Basic knowledge of Industrial Engineer & Maintenance KPI’s (OEE, cycle time, MTBF, etc)
•    Knowledge of data analysis and DB management tools (query, script, etc.) is an advantage
•    Knowledge in Flow simulation software (as Tecnomatix plant simulation, Witness) is an advantage
•    Knowledge in Machinery Directive is an advantage  
•    Fluency in English.
