What do you get to do in this position?

Excellent opportunity for a motivated Mechanical or Electrical engineer with a good knowledge of product safety and hazardous locations compliance. As a key member of product development teams, this individual ensures that appropriate regulatory and safety requirements are incorporated into product designs and specifications. Prepares and manages product submissions to global regulatory authorities for approval. Prepares and manages product construction reports and technical files. Job duties include:

· Review the certification requirements from project specification sheet
· Do gap assessment between the existing approvals (agencies, protection methods, zones, class, division, T rating etc.) for the intended product and project requirement
· Do gap assessment between current and new/revised standard and its impact on our approvals
· Develop a certification plan with deliverables, test samples, schedule and cost
· Advise design engineers on the regulatory and safety standards
· Conduct safety design reviews with design engineer to validate product designs and specifications against appropriate regulatory and safety requirements
· Schedule/Conduct required testing and review test reports
· Prepare Safety instructions and installation drawings for the Safety manual
· Develop a certification package including the overall certification story for the agency and other required delivery for agencies.
· Present the product and negotiate with the certification bodies part of the certification / conformity assessment program to get the right certification at the lower cost and in due time
· Support other functions such as customer service, Marketing and Sales by providing details on certifications and approvals
· Review and approve internal design documents, drawings and customer facing documentation

Desired profile

Qualifications :

This job might be for you if:

·  Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
·  Experience in Intrinsic Safety and/or Explosion Proof Design is a plus
·  Working knowledge in product certification IEC 61010 or IEC/EN 60079 series standards is highly desirable
·  Working knowledge of CSA and FM standards is highly desirable
·  Working knowledge in Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
·  Assessment of equipment for certification against published standards
·  Proficiency with standard workplace software (MS Office, Agile, etc)
