ASCO Power Technologies, an industry leader in the manufacturing of Automatic Transfer Switches, Industrial Control Products, Load Banks, Power Control Systems, Services and Solutions, has an exciting career opportunity for an Associate Product Engineer based out of Cary, NC.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Product Engineer performs applied engineering work involving the design of standalone electrical/electronic AC motor controls for industrial pumping panels as specified on the customer's order.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Reviews customer orders and specifications of the control panel and produces a complete design to meet those specifications.
· Schedules the job through engineering to meet customer delivery. Coordinates release of design to manufacturing and monitors job progress through manufacturing, solving problems as they occur.
· Determines electrical requirements, sequencing requirements, and selects electrical components.
· Produces modern, reliable, and cost-effective designs.
· Generates schematics, layout and assembly drawings, and bills of materials as required by the job. Enters bills and parts into the manufacturing system.
· Generates any technical manuals required with the controls package.
· Assists sales in the preparation of customer quotations, sales calls, and other customer contacts.
· Provides support to the service department relating to the installation of or any problems with the panel in the field.
· Keeps up to date on advances made in those fields of technology germane to Firetrol's products and future product lines.
· Insure compliance with UL508A and applicable articles of the NEC as well as any other local statutory and regulatory requirements required by the customer.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  Working knowledge of controls engineering to include control logic and sequencing functions.
·  Basic drafting techniques on CAD, including knowledge of electrical/electronic symbols, relay ladder logic diagrams, power distribution, and electrical enclosure packaging.
·  Working knowledge of motor contactors, control relays, and solid-state components and circuits.
·  Knowledgeable of manufacturers, suppliers, and other sources of electrical and electronic equipment and components as related to motor control systems.
·  Knowledge of problem solving and troubleshooting techniques.
·  Knowledge of quoting techniques including translating specifications into a concept, estimating time and material, and job scheduling.
·  Knowledge of work planning techniques for scheduling jobs.
·  UL 508A and National Electric Code.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

·  Industrial AC motor control and instrumentation experience. Industrial pumping control experience using variable-frequency AC drives and PLC's a plus.
·  2 years of experience in AC motor control applications.
·  BSEE or BSEET or AAS-EET with 1-2 years field related experience.
·  Microsoft Office and AutoCAD design experience essential.
