Description of the job

A vacancy for an Image Processing and Analysis Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse. The successful candidate will join the Image Chain (TSOTU2) department which covers the study and development activities of complete chains of image processing for future observation systems, within the Satellite User Ground System CoC unit.

You will ensure image processing activities, either in R&D or for projects led by the department. The activity areas concerned, which may be adjusted according to project opportunities and the applicant profile, are:

·  Studies in image processing: developing algorithms (filtering, deconvolution, restoration, compression, motion estimation and image quality) and simulation software,
·  Studies in data analytics: extracting information, detecting objects, machine learning, deep learning
·  Studies in vision-based navigation (rendez-vous, landing gears, etc.)
·  Contributing to the development of Observation Systems simulation and image simulation tools,
·  Analysing the performance of imaging systems: developing assessments and analysing the impact of processing on the system design,
·  Specifying the processing for implementation by third parties
·  Being in charge of the design and architecture of simulation or data processing software
·  Developing operational software for image processing or telemetry.

This position will require security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Depending on the opportunities, your main tasks will include:

·  Performing studies/prototyping of ground or embedded image processing algorithms
·  Preparing specifications or developing operational software

This role will involve regular travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to a 5-year degree level (or equivalent), specialising in General Engineering or Applied Mathematics, IT and Signal Processing, or in Big Data
·  Experience in algorithmic studies, applied mathematics or digital simulation
·  Experience in software development
·  Knowledge of and experience with certain programming languages: C++, C, Matlab or Python
·  Good knowledge of images and signal processing
·  Knowledge of Big Data technologies would be a plus: Spark, Hadoop, Akka, Kubernetes, NoSQL, MongoDB, Docker, GlusterFS, Jenkin, Maven, Rest, Tensor Flow, Caffe, Torch
·  You have an interest in algorithmic design and the development/integration of software
·  Meticulous and analytical mind-set, - the ability to take the initiative and highly independent nature,
·  You have the capacity to integrate into a team and adapt easily, good interpersonal skills
·  English: advanced level,
·  French: advanced level.
