Main Purpose of Position :

The Training Client Manager will serve as a single point of contact within Hillsboro Learning Solutions for their assigned clients and subject areas and will be responsible for ownership interpretation of customer needs to close competencies and knowledge gaps using Learning solutions based on Adult learning principles, a sound Instructional Design, great training delivery and great LMS coordination/administration at the Hillsboro Technical Operations site. The duties and responsibilities of this role fall into five major categories: Client/Relationship Management, Training Delivery, Instructional Design, Project/Program Management, and Vendor Management. This position reports to the Manager of Hillsboro Learning Solutions.

Responsibilities :

Client/Relationship Management

·  Serve as a single point of contact to assigned organizations and respond in a timely manner to all requests/emails/phone calls.
·  Effectively partner with customers to understand their business needs and how training and performance improvements will contribute to their success.
·  Conduct training diagnostics and needs assessments in partnership with customers and peer groups
·  Identify, develop, and implement curriculum strategies, solutions, and services that are aligned with business objectives; evaluate costs and options and make recommendations for training solutions.
·  Learn the business of assigned organizations to proactively provide real-time, customized learning solutions to meet learning needs.
·  Stay abreast of the training industry (including adult learning, instructional design, e-learning, and performance improvement) in order to provide clients with learning leadership, being fully aware of the most current learning trends.
·  Initiate and establish regular meeting times with department managers of assigned client(s). These meetings could also include attending department staff meetings.
·  Define detailed Service Level Agreements for assigned clients.
·  Provide proactive consultation to assigned clients in developing training and development programs that meet or exceed business objectives while keeping in mind how these fits in to the overall Hillsboro/Genentech Integrated Learning strategy.
·  Support and lead cross-functional initiatives, maintaining a “global” perspective even when supporting departmental efforts.
·  Quickly and effectively engage resources, utilizing both formal and informal networks to meet desired goals.
·  Actively seek feedback from senior management to keep communications open and timely.
·  Facilitate meetings with SMEs/Project Sponsors.
·  Support LMS data entry; provide task/qualification management and reporting for assigned clients.

Training Delivery

· 
Teach and facilitate learning programs (both soft skills and technical as needed), which may include organizing and developing training materials.

· 
Manage training certification programs for department trainers.

· 
Partner with Hillsboro Learning Solutions and OJT trainers to ensure training programs meet or exceed customer expectations.

· 
Training time in classroom and on-floor not to exceed 10% of job responsibilities.

Program/Instructional Design

· 
Bring in appropriate ID resources when new program needs are identified.

· 
Share best practices and Instructional Design models with clients so they are able to leverage knowledge in designing their own programs.

· 
Actively pursue knowledge of best practices and cutting edge technologies and processes in organization and training effectiveness to determine new approaches to emerging learning and development needs and opportunities.

Project/Program Management

· 
Manage assigned client's curriculum from needs assessment through evaluation; manage existing learning programs; identify budgetary needs; manage vendors.

· 
Develop means of measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of training programs and monitor their ongoing impact.

· 
Collaborate with other Client Managers, Training Specialists, and Instructional Designers across the learning network as appropriate to ensure resources and best practices are leveraged.

Participate in department and network projects as assigned.

· 
Translate business-driven requirements to design and develop learning and development programs that include, but are not limited to technical skills, managerial and process learning options related to the assigned business areas.

· 
Compile evidence of performance improvement to prove the business value of learning solution.

· 
Act as a project lead for training related projects and direct the work of team members without having a direct reporting relationship.

· 
Partner with other Hillsboro Learning Solutions Client Managers and the HLS Manager to ensure training initiatives are aligned with Hillsboro Learning Solutions' Mission and Vision.

Vendor Management

·  Select in-house functional/technical experts or outside consultants and trainers to deliver specific training programs when appropriate.

Qualifications / Requirements :

·  BA/BS degree required; MS/MA degree preferred.
·  Minimum five years' experience in a training/learning and development role, preferably with consulting and supervisory experience.
·  Soft-skills, professional, management/leadership training experience in combination with technical training experience required. Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and safety requirements within a biochemical-manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
·  Team-orientated approach; able to quickly and consistently establish rapport and collaborate effectively with clients, team members and partners. Must be flexible and willing to draw upon both technical training and soft-skill development to meet business needs.
