The Position

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a newly built function that aims to encompass several business partner functions for pRED including strategy, portfolio, program and project management office, clinical operations, sites and laboratory management, capability development and external operations. SPO is set up leveraging a hub and spoke design with a clear mandate for core capabilities that are mirrored by the respective spokes in disease therapeutic areas and functions across pRED. SPO’s mission is to deliver excellence in operations, ensure patient centricity and enable high-quality decision-making. As a trusted partner across pRED, SPO contributes to pRED’s research and development excellence.

This position is located in the Capability Development Chapter (SPO) contributing towards bringing the pRED culture to life by engaging as trusted partners within all layers of the organization to embed strategic capabilities that will provide the foundation to deliver on the pRED strategy. 

Job Mission

The Capability Development Chapter will play a crucial role in identifying, designing and implementing customer-centric integrated solutions by embedding strategic capabilities. In addition, this position will be responsible for engaging deeply with the business and translating current challenges and barriers into practical and applicable capabilities that align with pREDs strategy. 

The Capability Development Partner will be responsible for embedding core mindset shifts, owning content and leading strategic initiatives across pRED becoming the point of reference for senior leadership.  

Your Impact 

  • Demonstrated high customer-centricity paired with strong business partnering skills. Able to get ideas across and promote organizational buy-in at all levels through excellent communication skills.

  • Consistent track record of sustained impact across an organization. Brings a range of experiences in small, mid to large group facilitation, skilled in alignment, navigating conflict, and leading without authority.

  • Highly experienced in adult learning design, implementation and adoption of customer-centric solutions. 

  • Experience in organizational change management championing change in a positive way with demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional cultural initiatives from strategy to implementation.

  • Able to navigate complexity and translate complex problems into integrated customer-centric solutions. Proactive, hands-on and delivers results in a fast-moving and changing environment. 

  • Be energized and thrive by being part of a team of experts in emotional, social and relationship intelligence that will architect pRED culture and make it a great place to work. Ideally knows pRED or the Pharma R&D landscape.

Additional responsibilities

  • Responsible for embedding core mindset shifts to bring to life the pRED strategy in designated areas. Connecting stakeholder's challenges and barriers with key capabilities by designing, implementing and measuring integrated solutions.

  • Team coaches key priority teams to accelerate team formation, address team dysfunction or support creativity and innovation through agile practices or systemic practices and tools.  

  • Leads and is responsible for the content of a pRED-wide cultural initiative from end to end, ensuring progress and adoption becoming the point of reference for senior leadership. Manages timelines, budgets, and resources in coordination with chapter support services.  

  • Responsible for managing the change management of priority strategic initiatives in partnership with leadership ensuring that change is effectively planned, communicated, and implemented with minimal disruption to the business.

Your Profile

  • You bring a Bachelor’s degree in ideally Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, Business or a related field.

  • You hold an Agile facilitation or scrum master certification 

  • You are a certified Coach, Systemic or Team Coach (preferable).

  • You have a strong understanding of capability learning and instructional design.  

  • You bring excellent communication and storytelling skills.

  • You hold a Change Management certification (preferable). 

  • You can build strong relationships, collaborate across functions and influence at various organizational levels.

  • You possess strong prioritization skills and a simplification mindset.

  • You are fluent in English, written and spoken.
