As an intern in the Bioinformatics and Exploratory Data Analysis group (BEDA), located in Basel, you support the Oncology Disease and Translational Area (oDTA) within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) using state-of-the-art bioinformatics and biostatistics tools and analyses.The main focus of this bioinformatics position is the implementation of tools and methods that can be used to identify novel targets across different disease translational areas.

As an intern your tasks will include:

·  Data mining of public and internal data for genes associated with disease mechanisms
·  Applying and developing state-of-the-art bioinformatics methods and techniques
·  Assessment and ranking of targets
·  Implementation of tools and visualization components

You are an enrolled student in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or a related field
who is looking for a challenging internship in a professional environment. You are highly motivated, interested in working in a multinational company and you have good programming skills.

Furthermore you have:

·  Proficiency in working with bioinformatics tools and methods.
·  Good knowledge of R and R shiny or at least one programming language
·  Basic knowledge in biological sciences (especially Immunology and Molecular Biology)
·  Good communications skills in English

Applications need to include a CV and a motivation letter. Due to regulations non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents.
