As a core member of the Roche Scientific Infrastructure (RSI) team the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for developing the automation strategy and maintaining all aspects of infrastructure for building and maintaining services provided by RSI. These services will enable RSI engineers and IT partners to build and maintain solutions with RSI infrastructure. Working closely with other members of the RSI team, Infrastructure Services and GIS, the successful candidate will apply their experience and knowledge to identify automation tools that support the creation and operation of RSI Infrastructure as Code (IaC)) in supporting the goals and objectives of IT business partners and scientists. The successful candidate is expected to be familiar with a variety of automation services commonly used to support scientific environments, including Jenkins, Terraform, Bitbucket/Git, Ansible, etc. The candidate would be responsible for contributing to the evolving development and use of automation in the construction and operation of services within RSI, providing technical consultancy to ensure effective utilization.

Your main responsibilities are:

·  Responsible for the automation strategy and engineering of the IaC environment and overseeing the operation of these services
·  Consulting and partnering with Infrastructure Services and IT partners on the configuration and capabilities as well as on-going operations
·  Responsible for engineering and maintaining the end-to-end automation tool chain infrastructure for RSI scientific services
·  Demonstrated knowledge and experience with common automation and workflow tools e.g. Jenkins, Terraform, Bitbucket/Git, Ansible, etc.
·  Working closely with other members of the RSI team and other groups in GIS to ensure effective implementation and utilization across RSI services including core functionality such as network, data management services, identity & access management, automation, etc.

The DevOps will be an experienced scientific and/or IT professional. With a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant field of technology, science or business and possessing the following qualifications:

·  5 to 10 years' experience with managing scientific infrastructure and it's use in scientific environments including 3-5 years with automation technologies
·  Experienced in the configuration and running of automation toolchains as well as the supporting their operation as services
·  Experienced in supporting scientific use of common automation tools and toolchains
·  Experienced in the creation of dynamic environments using orchestration tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible)
·  Familiarity with containers and using them to host automation services and tool-chains as well as familiarity with verification and validation approaches through automation is desirable
