Job Summary

Primary role is to work with customers in the interpretation of results in slides reviews for product assessment. Other objective is to educate the customers on proper utilization of diagnostics tests. Facilitates and develops the relationship with the medical/scientific community, by communicating product-related information to customers, investigators and institutions consistent with Roche's Good Promotional Practices. Stays current on research developments and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with Roche products.

Demonstrates technical proficiency at the highest degree and scientific creativity. Must have substantial knowledge of respective business area(s) within diagnostics industry and practice. Strong understanding of scientific principles and concepts. Applies technical writing skills to produce reports and documents that will reach the highest internal and external audiences. Duties are varied and complex often involving research, analysis and solution development. Provides direction on issues of area of expertise and assist department leadership in setting strategic direction. This is a higher level professional position. Requires the regular use of originality and ingenuity. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of field. Is generally assigned more complex and difficult assignments. Assignments are broad in nature. Is expected to work with little supervision. The Pathologist may have responsibility for people management. Responsible for driving scientific/clinical strategy in concert with medical plan and strategy. Expected to consistently represent MSA with the business areas when a pathologist expertise is needed. Routinely acts independently for developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results within the business area(s) they support. Responsible for the timely achievement of overall medical project goals, including timeline, performance, forecast, and cost.

Role is by nature high in complexity. Decisions require a high technical knowledge. Works closely with the internal stakeholders area to ensure the scientific/clinical needs are met.

What You Do

·  Facilitates and develops the relationship with the medical/scientific community, by communicating product-related information to investigators and institutions consistent with Roche's Good Promotional Practices. Stays current on research developments, and new concepts in medical treatment and scientific technology, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products, and bringing new products to market.
·  The pathologist will work extensively with customers, particularly in slide reviews for product assessment. Builds relationship and demonstrates the clinical outcome and benefits of company products to thought leaders. Educates on products to scientific and clinical customers.
·  Coordinates continuing education workshops, seminars, and programs for graduate physicians, pharmacists, and scientists
·  The highest level scientific / clinical support for customers, sales and marketing in North America organization. Addresses customer's scientific inquiries (on-label and off-label unsolicited requests), documents requests and actions, customer scientific and clinical applications at site.
·  Communicates project information/customer interaction to internal stakeholders. Attends appropriate U.S. and international scientific congresses, develops in-depth understanding of clinical practices and regulations, maintains understanding and insight into current lab and clinical practices and guidelines and investigates and reports internally on competitor technologies and products
·  Knows wide range of specialized experimental techniques and skilled in their applications. Expert in reviewing scientific literature and assembling summaries for commercial team(s). Skilled with use of word processing and spreadsheets. Represents Roche Diagnostics' portfolio both scientifically and clinically. Typically, will serve as a SME for a particular disease area or assay(s).
·  Will work with Senior Scientific Affairs Manager in engagement on entire study strategy for the business area(s) they represent. Integrated into the Scientific Affairs field-based team strategy. Will participate in weekly meetings in assessing customer demands in North America.
·  Pathologist will develop educational programs for pathologists. S/he will attend scientific forums and drive corporate advisory boards in order to remain current
·  Companion Diagnostic (as well as other high-medical value launches) will require extensive involvement from the pathologist. Peer-to-peer training for new customers is critical. The pathologist will build educational programs for launches and manage logistics of training, and will conduct slide-based training for clinicians
·  The pathologist will also be involved in on-site educational / scientific customer programs.
·  The amount of travel required is extensive, roughly >60% depending on customer demand.

·  At least 3 years of experience
