Software Engineering Researcher

Job description

The Medical Imaging Solutions group in IBM Almaden Research Center is looking for candidates in biomedical and clinical informatics for a new long term research project combining clinical and imaging data for enhancing clinical decision making in radiology, cardiology and other modalities. This is a text analytics position accepting applicants with Masters or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related field. Candidates with background in medical text analysis, data management, clinical knowledge and reasoning, medical imaging analysis and analysis of large textual collections is desirable. Knowledge and experience in clinical terminologies and coding systems such as UMLS is also preferred. Applicant will be working with Research Scientists assisting them in data collection, data management, annotations, medical imaging and text analysis. Applicant should have had work done in mining of large textual corporate for extracting clinical semantics. Candidates with background in knowledge representation and reasoning, medical text analysis, natural language processing, correlation of medical text with imaging data, or machine learning approaches to analyzing large textual collections are desirable. Knowledge and experience with clinical terminologies and coding systems such as UMLS, SNOMED, RXNorm, LOINC, RadLex, etc. is a plus.

The candidates should have demonstrated independent thinking and achievements through publications in top quality conferences and journals. Proven programming in Java/C++, and system skills are desirable
