Your Role and Responsibilities

Welcome to the team. So that you can hit the ground running, a structured onboarding process and a personal contact person will accompany you throughout the entire orientation phase. During your Master's studies, you will work on exciting national/international projects. If possible, you will write your Master's thesis in cooperation with your department. At IBM, you will be a full member of one of our teams and will be able to establish valuable contacts in one of the largest global IT companies at an early stage.

These are your tasks

The vacancy fort student trainee will cover various Db2 on SAP Cloud integration.
The trainee will investigate and implement prototypes to integrate Db2 with various Cloud vendors with the goal to propose the prototypes as development items for Db2 or SAP.
Topics will cover:
·  Automation of the SAP Software Stack on Db2 with Ansible and Terraform. This item will involve participation in the SAP/IBM Linux Lab initiative. The trainee has to build Ansible playbooks, Terraform templates to automate various Db2 operations.
·  Db2 Cloud Error Logging. This item aims to enable Db2 with an Infrastructure as a Service model to transfer logging information to the Logging Infrastructure of the Cloud vendors. The trainee has to build the architecture for the solution and implement a prototype. Based on a running prototype, the diagnostic data should be analyzed, and AI methods should be implemented to build pro-active database health monitoring. The trainee will choose the right tools and methods to implement this and will build a development proposal for IBM.
·  Db2 Cloud Monitoring. This item aims to enable Db2 with an Infrastructure as a Service model to transfer monitoring information to the Monitoring Infrastructure of the Cloud vendors – e.g. AWS Cloud Watch or Azure Monitoring. The trainee has to build the architecture for the solution and implement a prototype. The trainee needs to aggregate Db2 monitoring information for a simple but universal set of Metrics. The trainee will choose the right tools and methods to implement this and will build a development proposal for IBM.
·  Build an automated Interface between IBM Db2, running with SAP and the IBM Data Management Console. This item contains to the automated extraction of the SAP DBA Cockpit Monitoring Configuration and the transfer of this configuration to the IBM DMC. This item will contain the development of a prototype with an suitable Language and the goal of this item can either be an enhancement proposal for IBM Db2 or SAP.
·  The trainee will cover various other technical and non-technical Cloud Items (Storage Performance, Account Management, Security) during the engagement as knowledge building. Topics with relevance for customer will be communicated by the trainee on appropriate social media platforms. - The scope of duties allows you to devote sufficient time to your studies.

- You have a good bachelor's degree with an IT-related focus and a grade point average of 2.5 or better
- You are passionate about technology and software solutions related to artificial intelligence, data management, data analytics, data quality and cloud
- You are dedicated, enjoy solving problems independently and are willing to take on new challenges
- You like to take responsibility and actively contribute your ideas
- Your high motivation, communication and team skills, as well as your customer-oriented thinking and acting characterize you
- You are flexible and mobile
- You have very good German and English skills

What we offer:

Financial independence right from the start - through attractive remuneration. You have the choice between 15 or 20 hours per week.

Monthly salary with 20 hours per week:

1st year: 1,326 € gross per month
2nd year: 1,731 € gross per month
3rd year: 1,916 € gross monthly

Monthly salary with 15 hours per week:

1st year: 995 € gross monthly
2nd year: 1.298 € gross monthly
3rd year: 1.437 € gross monthly

Payment of semester fees as well as reimbursement of travel expenses to the university according to our guidelines

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Knowledge of Cloud Service Models and their operational aspects, in particular Software and Platform as a Service
·  Experiences in Linux, Ansible and Terraform
·  You should be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
·  Broad and proven know-how in database technology - ideally Db2 LUW - and practical experience in software development and agile methodology
·  Strong communication skills and fluent in German and English
