Job description

Position Summary:
-- Be responsible for the delivery of the Safety programs for IBM in Greater China.
-- Advice/consultation on safety issues to staff & management
-- Identifies emerging safety issues at work and takes the lead role in coordinating complex safety projects.
-- Analyzing, evaluating, modifying and improving existing programs and procedures and assists with the design and development of new safety programs and tools.

Duties / Responsibilities:
·  Be responsible for the delivery of the Safety programs for IBM in GCG.
·  Provide safety services ensuring compliance with relevant local legislation and IBM standards in safety.
·  Provide technical direction, advice and counsel in occupational safety services
·  Implement, administer and manage safety programs and services in compliance with IBM standards and government regulations for IBM in GCG.
·  Works on special projects in developing and implementing occupational safety strategies.
·  Assists with the design and development of new safety programs and tools.
·  Ensure contracted safety providers provide quality and effective services.
·  Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

·  Works on special projects when required.
·  General controls own work priorities.
·  Ability to articulate and compare alternative approaches; negotiates specific objectives.
·  Significant responsibility for interpreting occupational safety and personnel guidelines and improvements.
·  Challenges the validity of processes and procedures for the purposes of enhancements and improvements.
·  High level work ethics and attitude.
·  Ability to communicate effectively with employees and managers.
·  Professional judgments applied to problems to develop review or modify complex programs and independently generate solutions.

Pre-requisites:
·  Degree in Safety, Engineering Science, Risk Management, Environment, or related speciality.
·  A registered Safety Engineer preferred
·  Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
·  Good safety knowledge and experience preferred, such as safety culture building, safety management system, program design and development, risk management, ventilation, ergonomics, electricity safety, fire-life safety etc.
·  Fluent in speaking and writing English.
Personal characteristics:
·  Fine with frequent travels
·  The role requires the ability to work across business units and work cooperatively with both management and employees alike.
·  Must have good interpersonal and excellent communication skills; and be a 'self starter', enjoying self-directed work from day to day,
·  Good skills in computer applications, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
