Job description

The Weather Company, an IBM Business is seeking a Platform Enterprise Architect to join the Enterprise Architecture team and provide project oversight involving the execution of the migration of TWC The Platform Enterprise Architect will be responsible for articulating an architectural vision, conceptualizing architectural approaches, developing and validating the architecture and high level solution design against business requirements, and guiding and mentoring development teams on methodologies, processes and best practices aligned with The Weather Channel’s Engineering Handbook.

The Platform Enterprise Architect will be responsible for assisting The Weather Company to mold an already world class data and analytics platform into its next evolution while remaining most performant, scalable, and cloud agnostic platform. The Platform Enterprise Architect will be fully involved in the transformation of the SUN Platform that powers over 25 billion API requests per day at 150,000+ requests per second with an extremely high cache hit ratio. This person must be familiar with a microservices-based architecture experience including the design of a protocol and technology agnostic system, modern container (Docker etc.) based compute frameworks, modern database technologies (Cassandra, Redis, Riak, etc.), modern queue and messaging technologies (RabitMq, Kafka etc.) and cloud-based architecture (AWS, Softlayer, Azure etc.). Experience with Analytics platforms using Data Lake and Apache Spark is preferred.

·  3+ years’ experience deploying applications and services in Java/Scala/J2EE and writing software in one or more languages such as GoLang, Scala, Java, and JavaScript
·  Experience in cloud-based architectures (cloud vendor agnostic), containers, microservices, and NoSQL (e.g. Cassandra, Redis, MongoDB, CouchDB) based persistence technologies
·  2+ year of AWS Architecture Experience
