Database Administrators are the gatekeepers to the many systems that run our company and our clients. As a Database Admin with IBM, you will have the opportunity to provide high-value IT services and leverage our leading-edge technology portfolio in our global network. Your work has a direct impact on the day-to-day productivity of our business by ensuring the integrity of, and access to, our most important resource: data.
The Oracle Database Administrator will:
Work with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and ASM support.
Work with Oracle DataGuard.
Database patching and upgrade support.
Defines and manages enterprise-level policies and procedures that ensure the security, optimization, and integrity of Oracle database environments.
Designs, implements, and maintains physical and logical database solutions.
Diagnose and address database performance issues, analysis of AWR, ASH reports.
Anticipates and resolves database performance, capacity and replication issues.
Manages database backup & recovery procedures, disaster recovery preparation, and the associated exercises.
Provide and warranty high availability to customer databases.
Define the strategy of migrations with minimum downtime for the customers.
Knowledge of GoldenGate and Oracle transportable tablespaces.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· 5 years of Oracle database administration experience
· Experience around Oracle upgrades and migrations are a must
· Deep understanding of HA (High Availability) and DR (Disaster Recovery) including RAC (Real Application Clusters) and Data Guard
· Knowledge of migrations between different platforms using GoldenGate or XTTS.
· Remain professional, positive and patient at all times
· Solve problems quickly and effectively
· Maintain shift/schedule flexibility
· Stay abreast of current technological developments/trends
· Scripting skills (SQL, Shell scripting, etc.)
· Database experience – Oracle 11g and later versions.
· Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
· Strong general knowledge of operating systems (Linux experience mandatory), storage and overall system design and management
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team
· Advance written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Certifications such as OCA, OCP, Oracle RAC
- Oracle University courses.
