Job description
IBM Bluemix Infrastructure (SoftLayer), has a global network that is deployed using cutting-edge platforms and we are looking fore Network Engineer II is to assist in the development, engineering, deployment, configuration, break/fix resolution, security and management of SoftLayer's networks. This position interfaces directly with our data center staff, procurement teams, management, development teams, and vendor support staff.
Responsibilities Include:
· Receive escalations from our NOC, Network Support Engineers, and Management
· Provide support to Sales for customer related network issues
· Engage with Technical Account Managers and/or Sales Engineers to represent the networking department in discussions with customers
· Troubleshoot and identify network issues as they are escalated and fix/escalate/document as needed/required
· Performance analysis and optimization
· Create diagrams and other documentation of network environments
· Ability to recognize and prioritize critical tasks independently
· Plan, schedule, and implement network maintenances
· Meet project deadlines
· Collaboratively manage vendor support escalations

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· 2-5 years' experience in a customer facing support position
· 2+ years' working on large-scale service provider networks
· 3+ years' network engineering experience
· Strong networking troubleshooting skills
· Demonstrated organization and time management skills
· Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work remotely with little or no direct supervision
· Must be self-motivated and disciplined
· Ability to recognize and prioritize critical tasks independently
