Advisory Software Test Engineer

Job description

  Define and develop Z/OS S-TAP release test plan and execution process.
·  Design and implement quality processes and metrics.
·  Analyze changes and new features based on functional and design requirements.
·  Recommend test strategies.
·  Identify product areas below supportability and quality standards.
·  Define and deliver software test automation to improve productivity, stability, and performance on Z/OS.
·  Transition new features, regression, manual test procedures, and system test requirements into automation.
·  Troubleshoot performance issues on production and test environments. Perform root cause analysis
·  Implement process gaps in quality assurance test.
·  Utilize SQL, databases, communication protocols, Windows, and UNIX.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Strong ability to understand requirements and how it maps to technical design
·  Strong proficiency in operating systems such as MVS, zOS
·  Working knowledge of SMP/E
·  Able to work independently in IMS and DataSets.
·  Some knowledge/interest in security would be a plus.
·  Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master's degree)
·  One (1) year of experience as a Test Specialist or related
·  One (1) year of experience must include utilizing SQL, databases, communication protocols, UNIX and Z/OS
