Job description

The Product Governance Manager role is based within Business Management with Chief Operating Officer (COO), UK Commercial Banking (CMB).
 
Product Governance supports the UK CMB Leadership team in ensuring products are functioning as customers would expect and will continue to function correctly under all credible economic scenarios through assessing products via periodic product reviews, controlling product change, and any tasks required to provide evidence that management is in control of all products sold to UK CMB customers.
This is a customer centric role, with a wide stakeholder engagement.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering fit for purpose products in a challenging economic environment.
Ensuring all Product areas within and aligned to UK CMB are working within the requirements of the Global and UK CMB Product Governance Framework.
Meeting the Product Governance requirements of Earth and Moon project.
Influencing major stakeholders to maintain a robust product suite which is in line with CMB strategy and meeting customer needs.
Ensuring UK CMB is not exposed to any product related risks which are not adequately mitigated and managed by product owners at all stages of the product life cycle.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Commercial Banking
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Occasional travel to London and other commercial offices across the UK
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Global Markets, Payments and Cash Management, Insurance and Investments, Lending and Transaction Management, Global Trade and Receivables Finance, eCommerce is desirable but not essential
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Accounting, legal or project management qualifications is desirable but not essential
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Project Manager, Leading Product Development, Design of a sales process is desirable but not essential
A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
Proven experience of leading others and creating an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver
Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively 
Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting

Role Context
UK CMB products are delivered primarily through the Commercial and Corporate network, with e-channels becoming an ever growing associated service proposition.
The role holder is required to have an understanding of current bank and CMB strategy, market dynamics, and advances in IT.  This will support the development of strategies that use technology and effective design to secure competitive product advantage, reduce costs, and improve income across the CMB product suite.
Management of the New Product Process will require the jobholder to secure the buy in of respective stakeholders across CMB and risk functions, along with Payments and Cash Management (PCM), Corporate Investment and Insurance (CI&I), Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF), General Manager (GM) and Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM).
The role holder reports to Senior Product Governance Manager.
 
Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
Five to ten years business experience in variety of roles (Commercial/Corporate) ideally with a product management or development background
Legal, Financial Modelling, or Accounting skills desirable
Background in more than one business area.
