Job Description
As a Unix administrator you will provide Unix System infrastructure support for several interconnected applications that require day-to-day support in order to maintain optimum performance.
You will be expected to support off-hours changes as projects require. You will be assigned to multiple projects and expected to balance the priorities of each. As of member of an agile engineering pod you will participate in daily standup meetings and notify stakeholders of your progress and challenges.
As part of a small team of Unix administrators you will be expected to work flexibly (CN/HK/IN/UK /US) on a rotation basis to be determined.
· Participate in project work assigned to you and attend their status meetings
· Support patching and OS upgrades as required
· Prepare new servers for application installs (physical or vm)
· Support cloud systems
· Troubleshoot issues that arise retaining to system resources and make required changes or recommendations
· Request and configure additional disk space as required
· Install and configure Veritas clusters (VCS) as required.

Required
· 5 to 8 years of Unix/Linux Systems Administration experience with in-depth knowledge of troubleshooting, OS hardening & OS tuning primarily RedHat
· Advanced UNIX shell /Perl scripting
· 2+ years of experience with Server Virtualization technology including HP VMware
· Experience with clustering tools such as Veritas Cluster Server, Red Hat Clustering
· Knowledge of SAN technology and its impact on the server environment
· Communicates fluently in English, both spoken and written.
· Excellent interpersonal skills willing to collaborate and mentor others.
· Ability to work independently, identify key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions and communicate effectively through to resolution
· Must be willing participate in shifts and some weekend support
· Excellent organization skills e.g. ability to prioritize and multitask, complete projects within defined timescales
Desired Skills
· In-depth knowledge working with Server Automation tools like HPSA to stage and run software policy
· Working knowledge of database support, specifically Oracle
· Knowledge or experience working in Google Cloud, AWS cloud or similar technologies
· Experience supporting, configuring, and patching Solaris
· Preferred experience with Hadoop.
