Role Summary/Purpose
The Field Service Technician will be expected to perform on-site Remote Visual Inspection (utilizing borescopes, pan tilt zoom cameras, and robotic crawlers) for a variety of clients including but not limited to refineries, utilities, chemical plants, wind farms and other industrial companies.
Essential Responsibilities
In the role of Field Service Technician, you will:
· Prepare and checkout equipment, determine the appropriate equipment for inspections, interface and maintain good relationships with GEIT customers
· Maintain all GEIT equipment in a manner consistent with our image as the premier supplier of visual inspection technology
· Complete trip reports in a timely manner, maintain and submit a pre and post checklist of commercial and technical items necessary for the success of the job
Qualifications/Requirements
· Associates Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution with a minimum 5 years of inspection experience)
· Minimum 1-year of inspection experience
Eligibility Requirements:
· Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle license
· Able to acquire and maintain an unescorted assess to nuclear power facilities
· Work in confined spaces and points of entry
· Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights
· Travel approximately 70% of the time, as required
· Work "on-call", overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
· To the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a BHGE owned / leased or rented vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record
· Ability to safely deploy to remote geographic assignment locations – onshore and offshore locations with limited access to medical care, which may require 4 hours (or more) travel time to reach secondary level medical care
· Undergo Periodic fitness for duty tests, examinations, and/or certifications will be required for onshore / offshore remote location assignments
Desired Characteristics
· Associates Degree in NDT field from an accredited college or university
· Bachelor’s Degree in NDT field from an accredited college or university
· Remote Visual Inspection training and experience preferred
· Non-Destructive Testing experience
· Electrical / mechanical skills in the petrochemical, non-destructive testing, power or other heavy industry preferred
· Experience in the Aviation, Power, or Oil & Gas industry
· Experienced with Microsoft office tools such as Word and Excel
· VT or UT Level 1 or 2
· Customer service and satisfaction skills are essential for success
