The Impact You Will Have 

 

Reporting to the Global Head of Accumulation & Catastrophe Risk Management, you will join the team as Head of MidCorp Cat Risk Analytics & Services and play an important role in setting up a new Catastrophe risk team of 3 people that significantly boosts the intelligence and analytical capabilities of the Commercial business to holistically assess accumulation risks and positively influence the AZ Commercial’s financial volatility. By utilizing your expertise in the catastrophe modeling domain, extensive work experience and your people developing skills, you will be trusted to build a new team and processes that improve the organization capabilities to manage catastrophe risk. You will be in charge to lead cross OE initiatives and projects so that Allianz Commercial will constantly improve its capabilities to define and execute its UW strategy to support profitable growth. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

 

·  Manage a team that is responsible for Cat Risk modelling, analytics and reporting by utilizing various catastrophe loss modelling platforms to perform natural peril and accumulation risk assessments, and prepares regular and ad-hoc data extracts and reports to monitor AZ Commercial global loss potential   
·  Lead Cross-OE working Group / initiatives to effectively exchange on business data & solution needs and establish best-in-class technical excellence in CAT accumulation management  
·  Drive innovation and change by supporting the integration and evaluations for modelling upgrades, GIS applications, and other vendor catastrophe loss modelling software, including  impact analyses   
·  Shape and drive Allianz Commercial processes to effectively conduct portfolio analyses and reports, e.g., to monitor CAT budgets and support global capacity steering   
·  Collaborate with internal and external clients to define scope, timeframes, and timely execute against agreed deliverables that enables constant progress  
·  Translate and explain CAT modelling results and their impact on portfolio level to all relevant stakeholders within Allianz Commercial and provide consultancy services as needed  
·  Provide training and education on CAT topics within Allianz Commercial OEs and various business functions  
·  Collaborate with CUO LOBs and OEs and other relevant functions to improve CAT Risk Accumulation Management, Underwriting, Pricing, Cat capacity steering , risk transfer placements and data quality  

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

 

·  Degree in, e.g. Geosciences, Engineering or Mathematics  
·  Technical and practical background in probabilistic catastrophe loss modelling concepts with multiyear practical experience and familiarity with multiple vendor tools, e.g. RMS, Verisk, MetaRisk  
·  Deep understanding of underwriting practices for commercial risks and corporate business on a global scale and international risk management experience, in insurance and/or reinsurance context  
·  Deep and excellently proven experience in highly complex organizations and cross-departmental interactions (multi-stakeholder set-ups)  
·  International management experience dealing with senior management developing people and working remotely with members around the globe    
·  Project management experience (Agile Setup)  
·  Leadership experience from managing a diverse team  
·  Strong quantitative and analytical background, programming experience with focus on data analytics (e.g. SQL, python); GIS experience   
·  Empathy and passion to develop talent and performance, to lead others in line with strategy orientation  
·  Ability to handle multiple priorities in a constant fast changing environment  
·  Excellent English communications skills (verbal and written), German language skills are a plus
