OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

With the direction and guidance of the EHS Manager and other Environmental, Health & Safety department personnel, provide support and accomplish tasks related to EHS department objectives. This will involve, but not be limited to, general research, data collection and analysis, performing various safety and environmental analyses, and departmental process development and improvement. Evaluate occupational health and safety policies, guidelines, and standards to determine their consistency with accepted practices, and recommend technical changes as needed. Evaluate all aspects of work conditions and develop methods to prevent injuries and illnesses while ensuring the health and safety of all company employees and visitors.

Promote workplace safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, equipment/machinery mechanics, and ergonomic principles while adhering to policies established by the company, as well as those regulations set forth by local, state, and federal agencies. Simultaneously identify, analyze and control occupational/workplace hazards, while also providing guidance on maintaining compliance in safety and ergonomics by proactively identifying risk and applying effective corrective action.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· With direction provided by the EHS Manager and with the guidance of other EHS department personnel, perform tasks related to new and existing projects.
· Work independently on any project or task which may be assigned by EHS department personnel (with EHS Manager approval).
· Perform research, analysis, and cross-referencing of materials/chemicals of concern with established manufacturing processes.
· Participate in Lean Manufacturing improvement projects and exhibit a record of actively supporting past projects while strategically implementing 6S and EH&S practices.
· Work with EHS Manager and EHS Administrator(s) to review facility layouts and maps for compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations
· Assist in the development of innovative processes designed to optimize factory utility consumption, waste production/disposal, and meet additional environmental goals established by the company.
· Performs Workstation Risk Assessments (or “Job Hazard Analyses”) and Ergonomic Assessments for all internal processes in accordance with Zodiac Aerospace standards as well as federal regulations.
· Create and/or evaluate Environmental, Health & Safety policies, work instructions, training matrices, and other tools which may be used by company personnel.
· Along with EHS Administrators, evaluate all injuries/illnesses, near misses, and potentially hazardous situations to determine appropriate corrective action.
· Assist in the processing of documentation related to injuries/illnesses, near misses, and potentially hazardous situations.
· Whenever necessary, assist in the performance of incident/injury investigations as well as departmental safety audits.
· Performs other related duties as required or as directed by the EHS Manager and/or EHS department personnel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge and Skills:

· Strong critical thinking & reasoning, objective analysis, and troubleshooting.
· General computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office suite and Adobe and Acrobat reader programs.
· Basic knowledge of statistical process controls and use of key

process indicators.

· Demonstrate strong organizational and coordination skills in an office environment with in-depth familiarity of company rules and office procedures.
· Ability to work in a high pressure environment with frequent interruptions resulting in the need to reprioritize tasks.
· Must be able to work well in a team-oriented environment.
· Proficient in grammar and communication skills with the ability to work under pressure, set priorities, and handle confidential and sensitive company matters.

· Education and/or Experience:

Must possess or be actively seeking/pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Emergency Management, Occupational Education, and/or other related fields.
