Role description

 

VINCI Construction Grands Projets, a leading construction company involved in major building and infrastructure projects worldwide, is looking for a motivated and talented lawyer to join the Projects Practice of the Legal & Contracts Department in Rueil Malmaison . The appointed lawyer will be sole in-house counsel based in to the Head of Projects Practice based in Rueil Malmaison.

You will be expected to perform a full range of duties, including:

-Working within integrated bid / project teams providing legal assistance during the procurement process and also during project execution;

-Negotiating, drafting and reviewing different types of contracts such as: MOU’s, Grouping Agreements (JV’s/Consortium), Design & Build Contracts, Direct Agreements, Collateral Warranties, Parent Company Guarantees, Performance/Advance Payment/Retention bonds;

-Assisting contract managers in negotiating, drafting and reviewing various sub-contracts and supply contracts;

-Assisting contract managers in managing claims and other pre- contentious issues;

-Managing disputes and working collaboratively with the Dispute Resolution Team;

-Liaising with and managing external counsels and other advisors or consultants, when needed;

-Providing legal advice on a wide variety of commercial issues as they arise on a day to day basis from projects or within the organization

Profile

The right candidate will have previous experience of large-scale international projects and ideally be familiar with standard forms of contracts used in the region.

He/she will have strong drafting and communication skills, be rigorous, thorough, organized, assertive and tenacious, a team player and have the ability to build strong commercial relationships, be adaptable, autonomous and self-motivated, be able to cope with multiple assignments and tight deadlines, and express him/herself analytically and succinctly both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

Lawyer qualified in a Common or Civil Law jurisdiction (Common law qualification/experience preferred).

Minimum post qualification experience of 3 years as in-house counsel with multinational company(ies), preferably in the construction, energy, oil&gas and/or environment industry (although other experiences may be considered)

International professional experience

Fluency in English
