Background & Purpose of the Job

Our Ethnic Business Unit team is looking for an Assistant Business Development Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for leading key strategic activities to enable the Ethnic Business Unit to achieve its ambitious business goals in North America.

Please note this position is located at our Mississauga office (2360 Meadowpine Blvd) and as of September 2018, it will be relocating to our Toronto head office (160 Bloor St. E).

Who You Are & What You'll Do

· You're a strategy guru: Own brand specific customer investment, earn/spend report, deductions and trade spend analysis, ensuring that investments remain within budget and ROI is maximized. Be the lead to work with internal deductions team to provide details on a monthly basis to ensure the deductions process is completed in a timely manner.
· You're a dot connector: Work directly with the Marketing Team, Customer Service and Supply Chain to ensure a timely and accurate flow of all relevant information to the Business Development team. Be the champion in bridging communications between Brand Management, external Marketing agencies, Business Development and Customers.
· You love to win, and have fun doing it: Work closely with BDMs and major distributors to develop merchandising and distribution strategies and monitor best in class execution. Maintain an up to date rolling forecast. Meet with internal forecasting group on a monthly basis to communicate store level activity and brand plans, which may influence demand.
· You're a story teller: Develop and communicate brand trade strategies for CD and monitor performance versus strategy using POS data, secondary sales data and Nielsen data. Provide BDMs and Brand Manager on pre- and post- promotion evaluations, analysis and interpretation of data, space management projects and managing day to day operation of the category.
· You're a teacher: Work with CD and Brand to develop and execute special packs, large pack products and promotional activity by leveraging consumer oriented promotions on an account specific basis. Monitor a promotional grid by brand, product grouping, pricing, region and country and provide regular updates and analysis.

What You'll Need to Succeed

· University Degree required
· Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
· Previous experience in customer development and thorough understanding of supply chain (imports) is a must
· Knowledge and experience in the North American ethnic markets is an asset
· Strong PC/software skills, including Microsoft Office, are recommended
· Knowledge of Eureka, OFA, and Workstation + software would be an asset
