Context:

The Ice Engineering department brings its expertise concerning relevant and reliable information describing ice conditions as applied to development and operations.

Activities : 

Ice poses a number of hazards, which may have significant consequences if not addressed. The inhomogeneous nature of sea ice creates an uneven level that may extend many meters below the water level, such as ice ridges and edges of old
channels, and consequently ice may alter the design and operational profile of ships and offshore structures. The task is to
investigate the influence of the ice interaction with a particular emphasis on how these can be applied to marine structures
and vessels. Work is carried out in la Defence, Paris but it can also be decided that some of the work is carried out at an ice model basin.

The focus of work is to develop simulations to consider the ice conditions, mechanisms and performance of ice
interactions, as well as the various operational parameters that influence the performance.
