As a Product Owner, you are responsible to create and maintain the product requirements of Human Machine Interface and Traffic Management product lines in the railway domain.
You will interact with many stakeholders: architects and business analysts at solution level, product design authorities, product line managers and customer representatives.
Project work and responsibility is shared with classical roles such as Project Manager, line management or product management.
All products are part of product lines, product concern will continue across many customer projects and you must incorporate a long term vision in any decision.
You will present the requirements to the development team and you will be there in the daily work to clarify what is to be done and to facilitate and participate in design activities.
You will do part of the product planning and you will support the Project Manager in overall planning, resource management and estimation.
Outside customer projects, you will be involved in design and estimation of offerings and, at any time, in activities related to long term product strategy .
Required competencies:
Qualification
10 years of work experience in software engineering
3 years of work experience in requirements engineering
Work experience in a mission critical or safety critical domain
Must have
Product engineering skills
Experienced in writing requirements
You can write formal specification (complete structured product specification in appropriate technical language)
You can write user stories , use cases, acceptance criteria
You can create use case models and story mappings
Familiar with product line engineering practices (production plan, strategic reuse , core assets, product scope , variation points and variability analysis)
Configuration management (you can work with versions, branches, you can manage the complexity of reintegrating branches)
Work experience with project management concerns:
You can do estimations
You can manage risk
You can do planning
You can do resource management
Work experience in both waterfall and iterative software development processes
Knowledge of the following (or similar) tools
Requirements management: DOORS
Issue management: ClearQuest, JIRA
Feature management: pure variants
UI mockup
Project planning: Microsoft Project
English language fluency and proficiency: all communication and documentation is done in English
Non-technical skills
You have a sharp personality: organized , express yourself clearly, able to prioritize
You are empathic : you can get the best from stakeholders and the development team without generating conflicts
You can handle project complexity and work under pressure ; do multi-tasking and decent prioritization (you will get 100 emails a day, 20 requests and still be expected to finish your actual requirements job)
You have presentation skills: you will do product demos, requirements presentations, reports to management etc.
You are ok with spending a few weeks just writing documentation
You are responsible , driven and inspiring, you will be an example for the development team
K Would be a plus:
Work experience / familiarity with Scrum and the Scrum Product Owner role
Experience in / domain knowledge of traffic management or railway signaling
Previous software engineering experience (development, testing, architecture) at user interface level
Familiar with programming languages, UI frameworks, UI architectures, enterprise integration architectures
Ability to consider usability, human factors and ergonomics in product design
Familiar with CENELEC standard for software development
Familiar with system qualities such as: Hazard Rate, Mean Time Between Failure, Safety Integrity Level
You've heard about quality and process management; for example about CMMI-DEV or ISO 9001
