Thales have secured a 10 year Long Term Support (LTS) contract to provide on going support to a number of Data Processing and Control Systems (DPCS) to ensure continued operation through to the end of life of the associated power generation facilities. As part of our Energy Services Portfolio within the SIX Domain we require a software engineer to work within a support team for Data Processing and Control Systems (DPCS) to provide changes and updates to the legacy executable and database software components.

You will be required to be part of a team of engineers working on development and support of the DPCS in a safety aware environment. You will be required to provide technical expertise and advice on development issues and problems with the systems on site and be an active member for the development lifecycle used for the legacy systems, including all quality assurance aspects, integration and verification testing and configuration. You will be required to interface with other members of the multi-disciplined engineering team to assist in the delivery of the agreed outputs and to ensure that knowledge is shared amongst the team and maintain the interfaces between the hardware and software functions. You will be required to take customer agreed changes and apply these changes to the software through the lifecycle to delivery to the customer, being responsible for the formal documentation affected by the agreed changes.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

· Support and understanding of updating and maintaining software systems
· Ability to diagnose faults in software and in systems in conjunction with hardware engineers
· Experience of CORAL66 development language and development environments
· Taking software through a full lifecycle from elicitation of customer requirement through to formal acceptance at customer sites, including integration and verification testing
· Ability to produce comprehensive documentation for the design and test of software.
· Interaction between software and hardware.
Desirable

· Familiarity with Argus 700 systems, including Inline code, OSC245, FNET
· Argus 700 Hardware Knowledge and Terminal User Facilities
· Nuclear Power Generation knowledge and experience, or
· Experience in Industrial Process controls for Safety Related Systems
