Product Line Engineer II

This position fulfills the purpose of an intermediary Product Line Engineering position. It includes assisting/leading with the design and development of non-complex new products, as well as, redesign and refinement of existing products under the supervision of a responsible engineer. Each Product line Engineer is responsible for at least one product line (As assigned by Manager) and assists as required on other product lines. Initially, the person will be closely supervised and monitored, with the degree of independence with which he / she is permitted to act gradually being increased according to ability and length of time in the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

¡  Design of new products and updates to current products under the direction of senior engineers and management.
¡  Design work will be performed utilizing various CAD tools and engineering calculations.
¡  Validation testing of design work in order to prove out concepts for either performance or manufacturability.
¡  Create engineering specifications based on business input from Product Management.
¡  Develop timelines for related tasks and monitor tasks to schedule, work directly with manager if schedules change in order to develop a plan to get tasks back on track.
¡  Work with other departments to coordinate various aspects of the development process, i.e. working with product management on concept creation, procurement on pricing, manufacturing on design for manufacturability and assembly etc.
¡  Evaluate and process engineering change requests from other departments outside of engineering.
¡  Review of changes being processed by other engineers.
¡  Work from approved specifications to add features to new or existing products.
¡  Prepare test plans to fully exercise features of products and/or offerings according to provided specifications. Execute test plans and evaluate results.
¡  Review product literature as assigned.
¡  Provide support on technical issues to company service personnel as appropriate.
¡  Troubleshoot problems and issues with products.
¡  Review and improve practices, processes, and documentation.
¡  Strive to continually learn and improve.
¡  Follow trends in uses of new materials
¡  Dialog with other FMC locations regarding similarities/differences in work, products and offerings, etc.
¡  Assist in improvements of design engineering processes as assigned.
¡  Responsible to minimize CNQ (Cost of non-Quality)
¡  Works independently on standard projects as a reference and participates in more complex projects under supervision of more senior engineers

REQUIREMENTS:

¡  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred or equivalent with 2 to 4 years of experience in the field
¡  Knowledge of fluid and solid mechanics, and solid modeling software/analysis tools.
¡  Knowledge of flow measurement equipment and accessories and a general understanding of flow measurement practices in accordance with API.
¡  Knowledge and ability to perform calculations using ASME code standards.
¡  Knowledge of product certification (weights and measures and constructional / electrical safety) and awareness of auditing techniques and practices (for ISO compliance).
¡  Ability to understand and apply appropriate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances to drawings.
¡  Familiarity with manufacturing tools, production processes, tolerance capabilities, and engineering materials.
¡  Familiarity with TeamCenter, SAP, MathCad, Solidworks (including FEA and CFD addons). Knowledge of Matlab, Python, PLC languages a plus.
¡  Familiarity with IIOT devices a plus
¡  Analytical and logical reasoning.
¡  Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
¡  Strong technical basis in engineering
¡  Project management skills
¡  Presentation and some coaching skills
¡  Good organizational and problem-solving skills
¡  Service/Customer oriented
¡  Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
¡  Good command of the English language
¡  Able to run development using the Agile Development Process
