POSITION PURPOSE:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing products that will be used in a harsh subsea environment. They must demonstrate the ability to manage designs from conception, through end of life incorporating feedback from stakeholders and customers continuously. The position requires cross-functional collaboration to integrate electro-mechanical designs. The candidate must demonstrate process and project management skills to function effectively with peers and the product development team.

POSITION DUTIES:

¡Develop specifications and test requirements that drive product design.

¡Design subsystems, assemblies, and their components to meet customer and internal requirements within budget and schedule constraints.

¡Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineers on detailed design work, and work with Sales and Service on product research and definition.

¡Analyze design reliability, serviceability and manufacturability.

¡Prepare stress analysis, hydraulic diagrams, test criteria, and critical assembly instructions.

¡Create bills of materials and oversee creation of drawings to support new designs.

¡Manage schedule, scope, budget, and quality of assigned projects at every stage of development from concept to end of life.

¡Recommend improvements to engineering policies and establish new procedures as needed.

¡Provide support to other departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service.

¡Perform engineering duties at customer sites, or offshore when required.

¡Other duties, as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

¡Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline

¡Four (4) or more years of machine design experience.

¡Two (2) or more years of work experience with product development (may be concurrent with the area above).

¡One (1) or more years of work experience technically leading teams on engineering development projects.

¡A firm understanding of mechanisms.

¡Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling software, Solidworks preferred.

¡Analytical skills in structures, kinematics, and FEA.

¡Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Desired Knowledge and Skills:

¡Experience in design of remote equipment used in harsh environments.

¡Experience in design of hydraulic actuators and components.

¡Experience in design of electronics enclosures and electric connections

¡  System-level design experience.

Work Environment:

¡Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak.

¡Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.

¡Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

¡Regularly required to sit & stand for long periods of time.

¡Frequent use of PC

¡Wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as needed in safety zone areas.
