Solvay Specialty Polymers is looking for a Customer Technical Development Engineer (CTD) to support different market segments in EMEA where fluorinated fluids and fluoroelastomers are being used. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical expertise to customers and to the internal organization (commercial teams, R&D, Manufacturing, etc.). Primary customer base is with German-speaking accounts so German language is required. This position will be physically located in Bollate, Milan (IT).

Job Overview and Responsibilities:

Work with Sales Development teams to support application development efforts at our customers: provide guidance with polymer material selection and validation, compounding, tooling and processing assistance, as well as product design.

Play a key role interfacing with R&D and customer accounts: provide market trends to orient product developments and provide marketing support to guarantee business success of new products launched.

Support customers in processing trials, interface with R&D labs for material and part evaluations (thermal, mechanical, rheology, microscopy, etc.).

Generate and gather material data to support new applications, coordinate work with internal and externals labs to complete datasets, write technical literature, and participate in marketing activities (seminars, conferences, tech-days, etc.).

Provide technical training both internal and external about polymers, applications and processing.

Collaboratively interact and share expertise with the Customer Technical Development community worldwide.

Education and Experience:

Master degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Chemical engineering or equivalent gained from past experience working with polymers.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical role working with polymeric materials in compounding, application development, and material processing. 

Experienced in polymer processing technologies: compounding, molding, extrusion and possibly others (coatings, etc.).

Previous experience working with Auto OEM or suppliers is a plus.

Skills:

Strong analytical skills, technically-oriented.

Able to work independently and effectively with both external customers and globally based internal team.

Good communication skills.

English and German language mandatory , French is a plus

Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time which may include international travel.
