Job description

We are growing faster than ever and therefore looking for fully qualified Overhaul Technicians to join us as Senior Quality Assurance Technicians to join our Rolling Stock team in Lincoln.

The successful candidate will be responsible for routine, daily inspection of products/materials and auditing of processes to ensure conformance to BSC specific and business-wide quality requirements. Responsible for supporting the shopfloor with defect identification, recording, and problem solving.

The role is also accountable for ensuring the quality of our end products, for right-first-time delivery, by providing effective end-of-line inspection.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Implementation of safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility.
  • Investigate any incidents thoroughly, complete relevant reports and implement agreed preventative actions.
  • Review of quality documentation (inspection plans, certificates of conformance, first article inspections etc.).
  • Support goods-in inspection and validation of new materials.
  • Ensuring any extraordinary circumstances or any complex work is built into the plan/schedule and escalated.
  • Perform quality investigations to identify point of cause and point of capture. Implement containment activities with the Production team.
  • Actively manage production related projects in area of expertise and participate in improvement programmes and drive implementation of improvements from the team.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Know-How

Essential:

  • Overhaul technician qualification (including ability to sign off safety critical work).
  • Previous experience in an inspection role.
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, and precise reporting.
  • Competent with measurement equipment (calliper, micrometer, gauges).
  • Good knowledge of IT systems/software.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Able to remain professional in challenging situations and put quality first in all scenarios.
  • Good organisation/planning skills, self-motivated.
  • Clean driving license, willingness to travel as required.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Quality Controller/Technician/Inspector of precision materials or goods.
  • Qualification in an Engineering, Inspection, or Quality subject.
  • Experience in regulated industries (ISO9001 / AS9100 / IATF16949/ ISO13485).
  • Knowledge of measurement systems and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Technical knowledge of Rolling Stock maintenance / overhaul procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Good understanding of Rail Industry requirements and practices.
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety and environment legislation/procedures.
