Position Overview

SUMMARY

The material coordinator is responsible for shipping/receiving activities, in-plant material movements, inventory storage bin maintenance, periodic inventory audits, and related documentation.The material coordinator will utilize the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to enter shipping/receiving transactions and inventory adjustments on a daily basis.Many of the tasks require hands-on movement of materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•Make shipping arrangements with qualified companies for production and non-production items.

•Pack production and non-production items for shipping per best practices and internal work instructions.

•Track shipments and provide reports as required.

•Receive and visually inspect materials.

•Assist with documentation and dispute resolution related to damaged goods.

•Enter daily receiving and shipping transactions utilizing the ERP system.

•Physically move materials to R&D, quality, and production locations to meet the needs of internal customers.Coordinate assistance as required.

•Establish bin locations and maintain bin accuracy for production items.

•Coordinate the movement of items between the production inventory and R&D projects.Ensure that all movements/transactions are properly authorized and documented.

•Prepare excess / obsolete inventory for disposition.

•Perform inventory audits and enter inventory adjustments as required.

•Participate in the effort to ensure smooth, controlled flow of materials.

•Develop and maintain work instructions related to shipping, receiving, inventory storage, and packaging tasks.

•Assist with process improvements.

•Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.

•Maintain clean, organized shipping, receiving, and inventory areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements below are the minimum requirements an employee needs to fulfill this position. They are representative of the knowledge, skills and ability required for the position.

Education

•High school diploma.

Required Experience

•3 years of experience in production operations.Prior experience with shipping and receiving tasks is desired.

Language

•Strong oral and written communications skills.Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Skills

•Basic computer skills, including email, Excel, and Word.

•Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with persons at all levels of the organization.

•Must be able to work independently as well as in a small group.

•Must possess excellent time and task management skills.

•Must be able to operate material handling equipment, including a fork lift.

•Must have light carpentry skills, including the ability to use small power tools.

Physical Demands

•While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use a computer for long periods of time.

•Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds unassisted, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

•Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

•Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heated mechanical parts, adhesive fumes, airborne particles, and energized electrical systems.While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal flakes.
