Our passion to innovate and launch solutions to develop a vibrant rail infrastructure has us seeking the expertise of a  Cost and Value Engineer to support the competitiveness and profitability of our products and solutions we deliver to the marketplace

 

As our Cost and Value Engineer you will utilize methods, principles and models such as cost analysis and optimization, design to value, modularization and standardization, supplier productivity Improvements, and target pricing/target costing in collaboration with our partners from the product management, project management, research & development, procurement, quality assurance, and production functions. 

What you will be doing:

 Perform bottom-up cost calculations to identify cost drivers in electrical, mechatronic and electronic systems, subsystems, and components.

Drive realization of saving potentials in a cross functional environment incorporating engineering, procurement, project and product management, manufacturing or other resources and functions as needed.

Actively support the identification and development of alternative solutions and measures from a total cost perspective in order to achieve the target cost

Drive the strategic anchoring of the CVE function in Siemens Mobility U.S. business entities in a joint approach with our global counterparts to ensure early involvement in projects, product development and service business activities.

Manage and implement CVE projects to achieve tangible business impact and sustainable value contribution.

Develop expertise, methods, tools and trainings to facilitate knowledge building in our global expert network.

What you bring to the table:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Electronics

 Experience applying cost engineering principles for mechatronics and/or electronics, ideally incorporating sensors, actuators, power supplies and housings.

Detailed knowledge on production and manufacturing processes, including equipment and cost structures of systems, component’s and materials.

Understanding of design principles, modularization and standardization used in mechatronics and electronics industries.

Strong analytical skills, solution-oriented, careful and independent operation.

Management of cross-functional multi-national projects.

Demonstrated ability to drive projects to full implementation in collaboration with cross-functional partners in engineering, procurement, product management, manufacturing and quality to achieve results including implementation and controlling of cost reduction and value adding measures.

A demonstrated sense for identifying and addressing the challenges within the business environment, for managing the expectation of project partners, and for having the ambition to find and implement pragmatic and sustainable solutions

 Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and influencing of internal and external resources at all organizational levels

  We would be impressed if you had:

Technical knowledge of signaling, operations concepts in rail industry, rail products 

Knowledge of German and/or another language 

 Consulting experience

 Experience with cost calculation software (e.g. Perfect ProCalc / Teamcenter Product Cost Management)
