Business Operations Management Internship – 12 months

Do you want to contribute and shape the future of healthcare? We are currently looking for a talented placement student to work with our Operations Manager for 12 months starting in the summer of 2021. Based at Siemens Magnet Technology (SMT) in Oxfordshire, the intern will provide valuable input to projects across Operations, Logistics and Planning.

The Role:

Operations management at SMT has the key goal to deliver product on time to the right quality and cost within a safe environment. To achieve this we use Systems, Processes, and Methodologies, to analyse and to adapt to an often complex and ever-changing manufacturing environment. This opportunity will provide the change to participate in projects and studies including:

·       Product flow studies(VSM) to understand and reduce Lead Time and Manage inventory

·       Labour productivity generation and implementation through supporting Kaizen events and providing and communicating data

·       Analysis of resource flexibility measures and support the continued development of AVM People column

·       Restructure systems to continue the development of our structured approach to training methods and recording(skills matrix)  

·       Analyse and research our reporting methods applying lean business principles to reduce duplication and increase effectiveness. Support the introduction of Operations software.

·       Working with systems and processes to accommodate NPI.

·       Alongside your role, you will take part in our intern development programme teaching softer skills such as communication, teamwork, and commercial awareness.

The Candidate:

·  Currently studying towards a degree in Business, Management, Economics, or related discipline
·  Able to complete a placement or sandwich year as part of their degree
·  A creative thinker and problem solver
·  Be able to adapt to a fast-paced organisation
·  Have a flexible working approach, self-motivated and good time management
·  Experience of working in a team
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·  An enthusiasm for working in the healthcare industry
·  Competent user of Microsoft Office software
·  German language skills would be an advantage

What else do I need to know?

·  The internship will take place over 12 months starting in June – July 2021.
·  In our location four miles from Oxford, there’s ample parking and a bus stop on our doorstep.
