CONTEXT

SAP Product Security Research is part of the global Products and Innovation unit of SAP, and it is addressing the major security and trust research challenges in the context of highly dynamic business software landscape.

Key research areas include: security risk management, software security analysis, application-level intrusion detection systems, applied cryptography, and data anonymization.

The PhD will take place within the below-described, EU funded project TOREADOR (TrustwOrthy model-awaRE Analytics Data platfORm), in close collaboration with several leading public and industry research institutes:

In the last few years, organizations of all sizes have becoming aware of the opportunities of Big Data Analytics, but, they are also facing the complexity in devising and implementing effective and secure tools.

To overcome this issue, TOREADOR takes a model-based big-data-analytics-as-a-service approach, building models of the complete analysis process. TOREADOR support substantial automation and commoditization of Big Data analytics, while enabling it to be easily tailored to domain-specific customer requirements.

In this context, the enforcement of the privacy and security requirements is playing a major role, and SAP Product Security Research, along with project partners, will investigate how to devise and implement models to support secure and privacy-aware deployment of analytics tool. The focus will be on data anonymization to support data sharing, balancing privacy and utility. The research results will be validated on a security solution for intrusion detection for business applications.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

The successful candidate will be integrated within our research team and will be a first-class actor of our research activity. Besides actively participating to the Mission and Goals of SAP Security Research and insuring our successful participation to these projects, writing publications and filling patents will be strongly encouraged.

· University Level: MSc (top 10% performer in university will be favored) or engineer degree
· Fluency in English (working language), French, German or other language is a plus but not a prerequisite
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Creative and analytical mind
· Willing to work with cutting edge technologies
· Knowledge of computer security, privacy and/or big data processing
· Willingness to work around Security and Big Data related technologies
· Possibility to travel (mainly in Europe).
