PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 

SAPs intention is to be The Cloud Company powered by HANA.  We learned from successful cloud companies that the Development organization has to take over the responsibility not only for development but also for the successful operations of our services.

 

We establish a Cloud Engineering Team in our organization that shall proactively drive continuous improvement of the whole productive landscape and coordinate incident management across the layers and development teams. With their broad technical knowledge about the infrastructure, the services and the platform they are able to solve incidents, drive and implement automation and develop central tools.

The mission of the team is to provide, protect and improve the software and systems behind productive services on SAP Cloud Platform with an ever-watchful eye on their availability, performance, and capacity.

Desired profile

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

·  Drive customer communication during critical events
·  Establish bridge calls to facilitate incident management
·  Solve problems relating to our business critical services.
·  Build automation with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
·  Engage in software performance analysis and system tuning.
·  Collaborate with development teams - from the earliest stage of product design and development to deployment and troubleshooting.
·  Conduct periodic on-call duties using a follow-the-sun model.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

 

Required skills

·  BSc degree in Computer Science or related technical field
·  Strong understanding of modern cloud/web architectures.
·  Experience in one or more of Java, C++ , Python, Go, or scripting experience in Shell and Perl.
·  Experience with network architecture, e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc., MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS,
·  Fanaticism about automation—make the computers do the work for you.
·  Stellar communication skills – precise, based on facts.
·  Affinity to quickly analyze and solve problems in a worldwide team setup.
·  Working efficiently in emergency situations.
·  English fluent.

 

Preferred skills

·  Experience operating / developing systems in the cloud.
·  Expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
·  In-depth knowledge of operating systems and network architectures.
·  Experience working in a multicultural, worldwide team setup

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 2 years of experience in software development or operations.

 

LOCATION

The team is setup with colleagues in Walldorf, Sofia, Bangalore, and Vancouver to enable 24h availability during normal working hours.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Expect some regular travel activities to enable ongoing knowledge sharing across locations and foster team collaboration.
