Software engineer R&D applications

As member of Ablynx' Information Technology and Solutions R&D (ITS R&D) team, you will be responsible for full lifecycle management of R&D business solutions, such as a reagent management and inventory solution, a purification process system, an animal health care application and bioinformatics applications.

You will also be responsible for data integration of Ablynx' R&D scientific data with other Sanofi data.

You will need to provide functional and technical expertise to optimize the way solutions are used and facilitate business process improvements.

Responsibilities

·  Support and extend the data management landscape for scientific data;
·  Participate in integration of custom key Ablynx R&D solutions with global Sanofi R&D solutions;
·  Maintenance (incident management, bug fixing, software modernization to avoid technical debt) and enhancement development of:
·  custom key Ablynx R&D solutions;
·  plug-ins for validation, annotation and persistence of nanobody compounds and tool protein sequences;
·  custom bioinformatics tools that support business processes for R&D and IP.​
·  Management of a small team of application management and software development consultants.



Candidate profile

·  Master in information technology or equivalent by experience;
·  Skilled in Java development, including design patterns and ORM (Hibernate), Spring;
·  Experience with the Ember framework is an advantage;
·  Experience with development tools including version control (git), continuous integration (GoCD, Jenkins), build automation utilities (maven, ant, gradle, …), package management (cpanm, Sonatype Nexus) and IDE (IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, ...), documentation (markdown, perldoc, JavaDoc);
·  Knowledge of and experience with database design, data integration design, SQL, and ETL-Tools; Fluent in SQL is a must;
·  Container technology (Docker, Singularity);
·  Experience with SOA and clear understanding of Web services approach including Web service protocols (REST and SOAP);
·  Comfortable in using Linux and command line interfaces;
·  Eagerness to explore and learn is a must;
·  Self-motivated and interested working in a complex environment;
·  Ability to handle multiple tasks, to prioritize, detail oriented and highly accurate;
·  Very good organizational skills;
·  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, interfacing with cooperating departments and external partners;
·  Team player keen on receiving and sharing knowledge/expertise in a global team;
·  Proficient English written and verbally.

Experience in following are a plus but not required:

·  Android;
·  No-sql;
·  Oracle;
·  Pipeline technologies (eg. NextFlow, Galaxy);
·  MVC frameworks like Catalyst and Mason;
·  Perl (BioPerl), Python and Groovy scripting.
