Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Generic

The purpose of this role is to support establishing a Digital Application Platform as a system of Differentiation. This implies a higher degree of custom development than in other areas. For this, a Software Architect with broad cross-technological skills is required, including cloud technologies.

Specific additions (if needed)

The goal of the Software Architect is to design Digital Applications on different Languages such as Java, Java Script and Python, standard web technologies such as XML, JSON etc.

The priority areas of focus are:

·  Design and oversee the development of applications based on the Sanofi IA Digital Application Platform
·  Enforce the principles of the Sanofi Agile Manifesto such as User Centricity and building for sustainability
·  Help establish and grow the Digital Application Platform by identifying relevant elements

The role will require strong interfaces with

·  Product Owners
·  ITS Scrum Masters
·  External Implementation Partners

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ascertain Sustainable Code

·  When designing or overseeing the development of applications, the highest quality of coding has to be ascertained in order to fulfill regulatory requirements on the one hand side and to guarantee that the applications can be operated in a stable manner on the other hand. This has to happen in close alignment with architectural guidelines from corporate level and the Agile Architecture Framework of Industrial Affairs. As the Digital Applications reside in Service Lines such as Manufacturing or Quality, the respective Domain Architects have to be involved

Expand the Digital Application Platform

·  In order to establish Systems of differentiation, Sanofi is setting up a Digital Application Platform which is the area of Software Architecture design the candidate is responsible for. Multiple Technologies are considered here, depending primarily on the specific data flows. For Manufacturing plant specific applications that require very low round-trip response times, e.g., SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence has been established. However, for cloud-based scenarios, an appropriate web-technology application platform has to be defined and established, which is part of the accountabilities of this position

Provide Functionality to Product Owners

·  The Digital Application Platform in general and the custom development in particular have to accommodate for the User Stories that the Product Owners derive. The interaction with the business is vital as the (Cloud) Software Architect needs to provide also visibility into what is technically possible and together with the Product Owner make the decision on the best technology

REQUIREMENTS

Education / Experience

·  Master’s Degree or above in a technical, business or engineering context
·  7+ Years’ experience in consulting or software development
·  Proven track record of software development and solution design in the Manufacturing domain
·  Proven Experience in the Manufacturing Environment

Technical skills & Competencies / Language

·  Knowledge of Agile Software Development, preferably Scrum
·  Fluent English spoken and written compulsory, fluent French appreciated
