Job Description
Plans, designs, coordinates, validates, and implements high technology equipment, product and/or processes for the production, finishing and inspection of IOLs and delivery system products. Instigates new projects which lead to site enhancements - including the transfer of new product, process and equipment technologies from R&D to MTO. Research potential novel products and process improvement for implementation into MTO. Drive work with external research groups to explore opportunities for collaborative projects. Support process metrology systems as required.
1.Responsible for management of Technology Transfer projects to bring in new products and processes from R&D per QM5.1 and CORKSOP-000201.
2.Responsible for project management and interaction with other departments/plants participating or impacted by technology transfer projects.
3.Communication of project status and risks to internal and external stakeholders
4.Responsible for ensuring all projects are completed to agreed timelines and within budget. Also that all work adheres to H&S and environmental requirements.
5.Responsible for planning and managing projects to ensure effective utilisation of resources and for liasing with R&D and other Alcon facilities to develop and implement new products and processes.
6.Responsible for exploring opportunities for collaborative projects with external research groups using state funding mechanisms.
7.Responsible for introducing and validating new equipment and/or complex new process projects from design through completion and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
8.Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon and Novartis QS requirements.
9.Ensure process support is provided to assigned metrology systems as required.
Specific Position Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge and experience of process engineering, equipment and automation specification
Knowledge of GMP validation and change control requirements.
Knowledge of data analysis by statistical methods.
Well developed Project Management skills
PC and software proficiency - Microsoft software and Microsoft project
Report writing expertise and highly developed people skills. Knowledge of process analysis and optimisation, and basic industrial engineering.
Must also demonstrate analytical skills in problem solving.
Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
Preferred Position Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge and experience of optics and optical metrology
Knowledge and experience of machine and automation design.
Knowledge of statistical process control.
Knowledge of requirements of machinery directive – i.e. CE marking
Knowledge of Irish government funding mechanisms available to support R&D projects

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Education
Minimum: Bachelor degree in Engineering/ Physics or related discipline
Preferred: Masters/ PhD degree in Engineering/ Physics or related discipline
Experience
Minimum: 3-5 years experience in an advanced technical role which can included applied post graduate studies
Preferred: 5-10 years experience in an R&D role executing product and process technology transfers in a regulated industry environment
Project management and team leadership experience.
