Job description

Job Description

A global healthcare leader, Novartis has one of the most exciting product pipelines in the industry today. A pipeline of innovative medicines brought to life by diverse, talented, performance driven people. All of which makes us one of the most rewarding employers in our field. Under the umbrella of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) located in La Jolla, California, has the support of a broad collaboration with the entire Novartis research organization, while maintaining the independence to initiate and drive independent research programs.

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join the Drug Discovery Biology & Pharmacology Group at GNF. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying mechanisms that constrain regeneration after spinal cord injury. Scientific curiosity and flexibility necessary to explore leads in the appropriate in vitro and in vivo models, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively across divisions will be keys for success in this position.

Primary responsibilities:
• Design, develop, characterize and implement in vitro cell-based assays with disease relevance
• Employ genomic tools to uncover novel regulators of cell fate and function
• Validate mechanisms in vivo
• Present results within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Prepare manuscript for publication of findings in a peer-reviewed journal
