General Description
An individual with a passion for software, hardware, and performance tests to ensure high quality mobile products is most preferable. The QA engineer will perform given test cases, test procedures and instructions. He or she will assist in the testing and evaluation of mobile features to ensure that said products contain no unidentifiable problems when released to manufacturing. He or she will work with Developers and Project Managers in testing functional and performance tests in various networks against various network vendors in the US. • Develop deep understanding of mobile handset products from customer operational perspective • Stay informed on the latest test tools, techniques, trends and methodologies and critically adopt them, when appropriate or necessary • Responsible for planning, processing and performing all given tasks in an efficient manner with assistance from senior engineers and the supervisor. • Gather requirements and specifications of applications and understand the test scope, schedule, effort, resources, and execution plan. • Troubleshoot SW/HW related issues and obtain relevant logs • Able to perform test with limited scope or detailed instructions and create suitable test methodologies and test cases • Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to complete project milestones • Determine test infrastructure based on carrier's requirements and network conditions • Understand requirements and correctly translate them to set up test designs/cases. • Strategize, plan, document, and execute the testing of your assigned area. • Works closely with MPEL (Mobile Product Engineering Lab) PL team in the US and S/W Engineering and Development Group in HQ. • Perform test cases, test procedures, and promptly write reports on S/W and H/W detected issues to upper management. • Detect critical issues in a timely manner to increase Samsung mobile device's quality and stability in a rapidly progressing mobile industry. • Generate professional reports from test results and ability to make presentations. • Strong and effective interdepartmental communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of client and staff. • Provide general administrative support to the organization • Provide recommendations to management concerning issues detected.

Necessary Skills / Attributes
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. • 2-4 years of system or software Quality Assurance/Development experience preferably in telecommunication industry. • Effective working knowledge of smartphone, operating systems (OS), and mobile wireless telecommunications technology - GSM/WCDMA/LTE. • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, communication(verbal and written) skills, and organizational and documentation skills • Excellent leadership skills to widely gain respect and influence. • Develops and maintains excellent proactive, working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company. • Works independently and in a team environment, in order to achieve personal and team goals and complete assignments within established time frames. Perform to complete tasks and objectives that are clearly defined and guided by upper management. • Knowledge and good understanding in CDMA/EVDO/LTE diagnostic monitoring and debugging tools. • Familiar with wireless standards which includes industry organizations (3GGP, 3GGP2, etc.) and carrier requirements • Must be able to exhibit technical thought leadership amongst both peers and carriers • Proven success working in a creative, fast-paced, results-oriented environment. • Proven success working in a collaborative cross-disciplinary team environment. • Proven history of driving test strategy and product quality enhancement. • Proven history of detecting and effectively managing product defects. Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: • Work is generally performed in an office desk or lab environment. • Requires considerable movement and transportation of equipment or samples with a high security mentality • Performs work under time schedules which are normally periodic or cyclical and include: time sensitive job stress, fatigue, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and product management stress. • Highly ethical personality preferred to handle unpublished samples and equipment. (Requires not to disclose all information and knowledge to public) • Operate a computer keyboard and view a display terminal for more than 40% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. • Perform reliability tests by operating small model devices for more than 50% of work time. • Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule. • Require business trips for short terms and long terms; short terms from 1 day to 2 weeks and long terms up to more than a month.
