General Description
This position supports regulatory compliance and assists with product environmental certifications and registrations. Responsible for supporting environmental activities including verification testing and audits of our products and programs. Supports the development of voluntary environmental standards and regulations on behalf of Samsung Electronics America (track, summarize, report and follow thru developments). Certification, registration and facilitating verification are major roles. To perform this position, he/she keeps strong relationship with stakeholders and sharing the information with HQ and business teams as soon as possible. It is imperative for a strong teamwork ability to support the project manager on highly sensitive, high-risk issues. Regulatory compliance Support : DOE, NRC, CEC, FTC, AHAM, MA 1. Support to process federal/state certification, product registry, corporate env't compliance reporting (ie. GHG, e-waste) 2. Bookkeep database of certification and verification history, issues for analysis 3. Assist to monitor, analyze upcoming regulations 4. Assist to conduct internal audit of FTC labeling, ENERGY STAR 5. Support developing new solutions to mitigate non-compliance risk and execute action plans Non-Regulatory certification 6. Support voluntary cert/registration such as Star-K/CTIA/EPEAT/UL 7. Support B2B, Government purchasing contracts – processing product environmental declaration for retailer/carrier (ie. wireless) 8. Assist in creating value creation of 1) environmental attribute to help business or 2)strengthening brand “eco” reputation Chemical Regulations: 9. Monitor and report federal/state chemical regulations related to product, packaging, accessories & battery – (not comprehensive: EPA SNAP/ GHG, CA Prop 65, Green Chemistry, CA TSCA) - Assist in weekly industry calls, brief, investigate into compliance requirement and provide guidance documents • Handle daily task to complete certification and submission per regulatory schedule • Input into various certification accounts and history, record database • Quickly respond and report to Korea HQ • Communicate closely with SEA sales, product business group to complete requested environmental regulatory information • Handle issues within a timely manner • Quickly respond and report to Korea HQ • Handle task to complete compliance report and submission per regulatory schedule • Obtain information quickly, analyze and report to Korea and all relevant business groups

Necessary Skills / Attributes
• A Science/Engineer degree preferred with minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience • Basic knowledge about electronic product (Smart Phone, TV, Tablet, HTS) • Knowledge in home appliance product, technology, regulation • Communication skill for internal and external reporting • Ability to work in team to support project or team leader • Environmental team in Global CS Environment Center • R&D of every product group GBM • US Government, state agency and non-gov't agency / trade association • SEA product marketing / legal / government relations / ATO
