Role description
• Lead the purchasing activity for a dedicated perimeter within a selected Commodity(s)
• Develop comprehensive market knowledge of commodities both in the key European countries and in the Company's targeted countries in other continents such that it supports the company's global strategies.
• Evaluate and develop the supply base. Introducing new suppliers as appropriate to meet the current and future needs of the business, at the same time ensuring continuous improvement in terms of cost, quality, delivery, new product introduction and systems innovation.
• On the selected commodity, contribute to Technical Policy and Purchasing Strategy
• To achieve Year on Year Cost reductions within selected Commodity(s)
• Liaise with European / Global plants to identify leverage opportunities
• Design and implement supplier rationalisation strategies within your commodity(s)
• Build relationships internally and externally with stakeholder departments to ensure optimum success.
• Achieve the optimised Total Cost of Acquisition that best supports the business model and customer requirements.
• Utilise appropriate tools and techniques effectively to ensure the procurement deliver its cost and performance requirements i.e open book costing, cost modelling CI, VE and value stream mapping.
• Represent the purchasing function at meetings, co-ordinate and liaise with other supply chain missions (such as SPM, supplier quality insurance and ordering) and other departments in meeting overall company objectives.
• Give support to NPI Purchasing in case of escalation request to supplier executive.
• Risk Management – through negotiation of robust supply contracts and service level agreements and on-going development of best practice procurement processes incorporating supply chain sustainability considerations
• Key project member of change management within the supply base
• Manage the evaluation and implementation of change of components that directly affects your commodity
• Promote good relationships in the supply base encouraging participation in continuous improvement to mutual benefit
• Manage and maintain supplier commodity contracts, agreements and policies from initial negotiations through to regular performance reviews.
• Take ownership for the high value / high risk projects
• Global external supplier and commodity strategies that will drive long-term improvements in QCD with engagement and support of stakeholders that enhance competitive and commercial performance.
• Project leads/managing identified projects
• Assist SPM in the development of supplier ratings

• CIPS qualified or willingness to study
• Accuracy in administration skills
• Affinity and knowledge of procurement tools such as: open book costing, cost modelling CI, VE and value stream mapping, would be beneficial
