Procter & Gamble is looking for an individual to work on our Performance Testing Team of the Measurement Science Organization. The individual will work on a unique interface between technology development, formula design, and biological performance. The role will focus on development of new biological performance methods in support of Oral Care programs and holistic integration of such methods into the overall technology assessment and development. This position also requires effective collaboration and interpersonal skills, ability to explain complex scientific concepts to non-experts, and collaboration with multitude of diverse experts (formulators, process engineers, chemists, clinicians, etc.). This role is critical for improvement of global public health by delivering superior products of outstanding quality, and the work directly translates to new technology identification, product development and commercialization for all products in the Oral Care portfolio. The successful candidate will join the best in class group of scientists to grow and advance life science and capability development in Oral Care. We are looking for a PhD Life Scientist with experience in the field of Microbiology, Immunology, Immunochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Biochemistry. The ideal candidate will have a cross-disciplinary training and experience, with an extensive understanding of interactions of bacteria within complex biofilms, bacteria-host interactions, and structure function relationships. PhD and dual degrees (ie DMD–PhD, DDS-PhD, MD-PhD, RDH-PhD) as well as individuals with post-doctoral research experience will also be given consideration.

Qualifications

Requirements (skills / experience) for the role

The qualified individual should have a PhD in a life science with a passion for fundamental understanding of disease processes, particularly as it comes to understanding of the interaction between the microbiome and host response. The individual must have a proven track record of technical problem-solving skills, experience with relevant methods and instruments, and ability to bring forward the state-of-the art life science tools and approaches. Some examples include high throughput sequencing, Protein/DNA Mapping, imaging techniques, bacterial labeling, genomics, metabonomic, proteomics, etc.
