The Collections Specialist position will report to the Chief Risk

Officer and will support all risk related initiatives. Collections Specialist

will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing Collections strategies,

processes and systems effectively and efficiently in alignment with the overall Company risk appetite framework.

Strategy

·  Support and

provide inputs to Chief Risk Officer for developing operational models and

shaping the strategic agenda for collections management;
·  Work with stakeholders

to design and implement collections strategies and infrastructure for all

processes, channels and products;
·  Manage collections

strategies, assisting business with implementing the 'best in class' tools needed

to minimize credit losses and to increase collections results while maintaining

and adhering to business goals and objectives;

Business

·  Ensure the collections

risk management framework is effectively embedded and communicated across the

Company;
·  Develop

effective collections management strategies and timely deploy these strategies

across products;
·  Identify

industry best collections management practices are put forward and are

considered for adoption within the business;
·  Ensure that

gross and residual risks are understood and agreed with the business

management;
·  Liaise with

external suppliers of collections services and ensure service levels are

maintained at high standards;

Processes

·  Lead and drive

standardization, automation and consolidation through re-engineering and process

improvement initiatives;
·  Develop and

maintain collections capabilities, skills and infrastructure that are in

compliance with both internal policies and external regulations;
·  Act quickly and

decisively when any risk and control weakness becomes apparent and ensure they

are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the

relevant committees;
·  Implement an

operational risk framework and monitor the operational risk metrics (Key

Performance Indicators) for the business to identify potential control

weaknesses;
·  Continuously

improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of collections strategies,

systems and processes;
·  Ensure effective

recovery tracking process are in place;

Risk Management

·  Identify and

share industry best practices and work with the business for their feasibility

and implementation;
·  Develop a

collaborative relationship with peers and collections industry forums to help increase

collections results;
·  Develop

restructuring solutions for customers in distress in order to prevent

delinquencies and to maximize collection results;
·  Ensure all collections

policies and procedures comply with Company policies and standards. Ensure proper

and updated documentation in place for policies and procedures;
·  Proactive in

seeking regular assurance that areas of responsibility are performing to adequate

risk and control standards;
·  Recommend

changes to the process control environment or to business practices, where

necessary;
·  Balance business

performance delivery and cost management with risk and control matters to

ensure that it does not materially threaten the Company, while remaining within

risk appetite;
·  Conduct training

programs on Collections strategies for staff and partners;

Governance

·  Provide

oversight across Company collection management policies, processes and controls,

ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory, business conduct

and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This

includes compliance with applicable laws, anti-money laundering and customer

protection regulations and guidelines;
·  Embed the

Company values and code of conduct in the collections risk management processes

to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance

with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees forms part of

the culture;
·  Accountable for

satisfactory closure of issues / gaps arising from Internal Audits, peer

reviews and regulatory reviews;

Required Skills and Experience

·  University

degree in Economics, Mathematics or Financial Engineering
·  Three to five

years' experience in developing collections risk policies, processes and

controls, or in internal control functions
·  Business

Strategy and Model: Ability to build an appropriate understanding of Company

processes and platforms and to identify potential security vulnerabilities;
·  Risk Management

and Control: ability to identify, assess, monitor, report, control and mitigate

risks in the Company;
·  Regulatory

Framework and Requirements: awareness and understanding of the regulatory

framework in which the Company operates and the regulatory requirements and

expectations relevant to the role;
·  Non-technical

skills: strong written / oral communication and influencing skills. Ability to

create effective work relationships within and across functions & business

lines;
