Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSLs) are field based medical affairs associates who establish and maintain high-quality strategic partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other relevant external stakeholders. They contribute strategically and operationally to the development, reimbursement, launch and commercialization of the most important current and future Novartis products through state-of-the-art medical-scientific interactions, collecting and sharing the insights of KOLs and other relevant external stakeholders, deepening and broadening the knowledge and insights within Novartis about her products and indications, and shaping the strategic positioning of these products. They anticipate on changes in the organization and funding of the healthcare system. In so doing, they support the business objectives and contribute to the optimal care for the patient.

Major Accountabilities

I. KOL development and management
• Identify and approach KOLs and other relevant external stakeholders in line with the strategy 2 – 3 years prior to the launch of a product.
• Establish and maintain high-quality strategic partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other relevant external stakeholders, gain and monitor advocacy (advocates) and create contributions (ambassadors).
• Provide and discuss high-quality medical-scientific information and data with KOLs and other relevant external stakeholders.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of the medical-scientific information on the relevant indication and therapeutic treatment options.
• Provide high-quality medical-scientific information to and interactions with relevant external associations, and ensure that these associations appreciate the Novartis products based on evidence-based information in relation with Risk Management Plans, guidelines and discussions on pharmaco-economical aspects of the Novartis products.
• Educate KOLs and other important stakeholders as speakers as to ascertain the training of healthcare providers on the relevant indications and Novartis products.
• Organize, chair and/or support activities and meetings that aim at the collection of advice, the increase of knowledge of the relevant indications and Novartis products, the exchange of medical-scientific information, and the education and training of KOLs, healthcare physicians and other relevant external stakeholders.
• Translate medical-scientific knowledge and customer insights into a sound strategy for for instance the positioning of the Novartis products and the review of reimbursement dossiers.
• Build and maintain relationships with relevant internal contacts within the CPO, Region Europe and Global Novartis organization.

II. Market access contributions
• Collect strategic insights on the market access and reimbursement of the Novartis products and share these within the relevant cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to and/or review the reimbursement dossiers, and ensure adequate KOL support.
• Contribute to and /or review value propositions and ensure adequate KOL support.
• Transfer to and discuss with KOLs and other relevant external stakeholders the therapeutical and pharmaco-economical value of the Novartis products.
• Increase the knowledge of KOLs and other relevant external stakeholders about the organization and funding of the healthcare system and the implications for the positioning of the Novartis products.
• Organize, initiate and/or contribute to activities and meetings that aim at the collection of advice, the increase of knowledge of the relevant indications and Novartis products, the exchange of medical-scientific information, and the education and training of KOLs, healthcare physicians and other relevant external stakeholders from a pharmaco-economical perspective.

III. Clinical research contributions
• Collect insights on the clinical development programs of the Novartis products, and share these within the relevant cross-functional teams.
• Engage KOLs at an early stage with the clinical development programs of the Novartis products and collect insights on potential Investigator Initiated Trials in alignment with the relevant cross-functional teams and in close collaboration with ICRO and the Medical Adviser.
• Increase the awareness of KOLs of and the engagement with the clinical development programs of the Novartis products.
• Contribute to the strategic portfolio management and prioritization of the Novartis pipeline products within the relevant cross-functional teams, and act as intermediate between the BT / MAT and the ITS team.

IV. Internal contributions
• Support, mentor and train relevant Novartis colleagues.
• Chair MAT and ITS teams.
• Lead medical-scientific project teams.
• Contribute to the integration and consolidation per (hospital)account of insights on the level of indication and products from a medical-scientific, market and pharmaco-economical perspective and on that basis (co)develop and execute or have executed strategic and tactical plans.

Desired profile

Minimum requirements

Minimum opleiding: WO Biomedisch / marketing met een wetenschappelijke instelling, en het behaald hebben van de bij functie van junior rayonmanagement behorende certificering en toetsing.

• Nederlands en Engels, zowel schriftelijk als mondeling
• Minimum ervaring: Meer dan 2 jaar verkoop ervaring in een farmaceutische omgeving, bij voorkeur als Rayon Manager
