Posting Description

Nissan's Decherd, TN manufacturing plant is located approximately 85 miles southeast of Nashville, TN and 65 miles west of Chattanooga, TN along Interstate 24. The Powertrain Assembly plant is 1.1 million square feet and has an annual production capacity over 1 million engines. Nissan-Decherd's engine assembly plant produces engines for the Nissan Altima, Maxima, Rogue, Frontier, Titan, Armada, Quest, Pathfinder, as well as several Infiniti vehicles. In addition to engine assembly, Nissan –Decherd also assembles the electric motor for the LEAF, Nissan's 100% electric vehicle. Other production at Nissan-Decherd include: Cylinder Block Machining, Cylinder Head Machining, Crankshaft Machining, Crankshaft Forging, and Cylinder Block Hi-pressure Die Casting.

We are currently seeking a Powertrain Engineer to support our Decherd, TN engine manufacturing facility.

Job Description:

Major Responsibilities will include but not limited to: New model introduction, current model job rebalancing, new equipment specification development utilizing Melfacs, installation and startup; developing, implementing, and monitoring supplier quality systems through standards: SPC, FMEA, and control plans. The central purpose of all of these duties is to assist the Decherd Powertrain plant in achieving quality, cost, delivery, and safety goals. Work with Equipment suppliers to add new engine models, & Set up Engine Repair Strategies. Work with Supply Chain Management to update parts complexity within the Melfacs software .Utilize Root Cause analysis tools Fishbone, Pareto, FTA to find root causes to problems and put in place solutions. Cycle time improvements, CPU and TDC reduction activities. Create Process standards with process sheets and use best practices to implement new design changes via DCSS processes. Set up new pokayokes for quality improvements, (Pick lights, DC tools, Production oilers, 2D Code Scanners, Load SOS)

Minimum Qualifications : The following qualification statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant.

-B.S. degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required (prefer Mechanical or Industrial Technology)
-Excellent verbal, written communication, and problem solving skills. Working knowledge of quality control assessment such as statistical process control. Ability to understand part, sub- assembly or system dimensional layouts.
-Need to be able to use AUTOCAD updating plant layout, and be able to design simple jigs/tools/racks etc.
-Need to be capable of utilizing Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word Processor.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-1-5 years of related assembly experience
-Testing experience and SPC control
-Basic PLC knowledge to be able to support Melfacs software
-Networking and Database experience
