The U.S. Buy Marketing and Communications team is responsible for driving reputation and revenue for the business. Through marketing, media relations, internal communications and thought leadership, the team supports the biggest revenue business for the organization in ensuring all constituents – clients, associates, the industry, shareholders, consumers – have a positive perspective on Nielsen and support the client service teams in driving incremental revenue on core products and high growth opportunities.

The Communications Manager will be a key member of the U.S. Buy Marketing and Communications team. This position will support a multi-pronged PR plan that aligns with the company’s business growth objectives and overall marketing strategy. This role will be essential in executing public relations activities across the United States with the goals of enhancing Nielsen’s brand reputation as a resource, thought leader and influencer within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.

The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of the CPG and/or B2B space. Candidate should come with client experience with proven success supporting communications initiatives, product launches and thought leadership programs. We are looking for someone who is highly organized and able to work effectively in a fast paced environment. We want someone who is ready to expand their editor relationship. We’re looking for a natural storyteller who can create dynamic content and write for a variety of traditional PR, editorial and social media channels. The role reports to the Vice President of Communications and works directly with the company’s executive team, marketing group, and Corporate communications teams.

Responsibilities:

·  Assist in the execution of all media relations campaigns to promote Nielsen's Consumer expertise in U.S. business, trade and consumer press.
·  Build effective relationships with key business and trade media covering the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries.
·  Evaluate and respond to incoming media requests in the U.S. on a daily basis. Arrange and manage interviews with media outlets and Nielsen spokespeople.
·  Monitor Nielsen press clips for accuracy of data and sourcing
·  Serve as on-the-ground Communications support for marketing communications and internal events as needed.
·  Write press releases, develop key messages and media Q&As, write and edit bylined articles and columns for trade press.

Qualifications:

·  3 - 5 years of experience in CPG and/or B2B media relations/integrated marketing functions.
·  Ability to build and maintain relationships with desired media outlets and/or reporters.Excellent writer/editor across a variety of media and purposes (blogs, releases, articles, etc.) and a 'nose for news'.
·  Curiosity for trends.
·  Results oriented with a hunger for media placements.
·  Strong attention to detail.
·  Self-starter, but strong team player.
·  Ability to communicate effectively at executive level.
·  Experience with Professional Services industries or Consumer Packaged Goods companies (either Retail or Manufacturing) desired.
·  Proficient in Cision and familiar with Social Media management tools like Sprinklr and Trello
·  Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, business or related.
